The fact you say you love the story and you're saying this on a dead forum should give the owners confidence that there's plenty of people who are enthusiasts who would love the story and thus want the car also. People love cars with a good story and that's part of the reason BaT became so successful. If you really believe that it wouldn't sell for much on either site, then maybe let them post up and you can be the high bidder and win anyway. Wouldn't that be to your advantage if you actually believe that? Unless of course you're wanting to get this for under market value now... And IMO it would go for more than market value with all other variables the same, based on story alone.
Here's an example of a car with a story being more valuable, and this although 7 years old, is a prime example of a story car and the comments are worth reading. Again, 7 years ago, but this sold for more than any other that year, and it was unrestored. It also sold for more than any comparable car until at least 2020. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/19...et-corvette-6/ ***Shared all this mostly for ScottB and his wife's benefit.***
You are the evo flipper, you've sold multiple here in the last few years for a profit, and you even went as far as selling an evo to @Mitch Dore who flew 1500 miles to you and had the car blow the trans 40 miles after he picked it up and you told him pound sand. I love these cars as an enthusiast and you use them as a means of making $$. Originally Posted by kpt6

@GLI Turbo Based on the websites you created and the cars you sold on BAT you are an enterprising young entrepreneur. I keep telling people that the last Evo anyone wants to own is an RS. No one listens to me though.
I am sure if you spend some time in Southern California working at a Mitsubishi dealership you will see a treasure trove of Evos come through. It was like that in the heyday of the scene. Who knows maybe you will find your RS in that place. One thing is for certain if you are in SoCal you will find one. I have found several in NorCal and we have less Evos than SoCal. Only about 430 Evos in this area and they don't stay here long. Take this as your cue to follow your dreams of owning one of the most analog 90s sports sedans ever made. Travel to the mecca of the JDM car scene and find your Moby Dick.
PS I wouldn't make it a habit of posting your personal info on these forums.

lol this guy is absolutely trying to get an RS for under market value off an unsuspecting member. They would definitely perform well on BAT, just saw a rusty example go for 23k a day or two ago. Btw I have a fully stock 8 RS I’d let go for $75k

sorry buddy but this isn’t 2001 where you can flip to your local mags and find local cars for cheap. One google search shows what they sell for - and evo owners aren’t people who just strolled into a dealership and bought it by accident - so there’s no ripping anybody offOriginally Posted by hperez

Thank you and I appreciate that. I had no idea these were so popular in CA back then. I have a few friends out there I’ll have them ask around. Appreciate the very kind comments , it’s been a very long and rough journey so far. Originally Posted by deylag

I for sure learned my lesson about that haha, the funny thing is those websites are samples for some reason the designer published.

You edit your posts a lot. This said something entirely different before. I’m not here trying to hustle anyone into selling me their car, and I don’t want their car anyway. I was giving them honest advice. Yes, I’ve owned a lot of Evos, I still do, and I have sold 1 in the last 6+ years. Anyone can read how that transaction went down and draw their own conclusions. I’ve owned Evos nearly 2 decades now and have well over 100 feedback in my nearly 20 years on this site from dealing with fellow members.Originally Posted by GLI Turbo

I’d appreciate it if you would stop PMing me now. You’ve sent me 3 to which I’ve replied to none of them, and your behavior is way out of line.
Anyway, I hope you and everyone reading here has a Happy Thanksgiving. ✌️

Come on now. What’s out of line is googling someone’s phone number and posting links and websites and creating a false narrative about someone you don’t know. I’m the farthest thing from what you made me out to be…..and i offered you a phone call to explain who I am and what I do but clearly weren’t interested. Nor would I expect you to be if you don’t have any water cooled mk1 mk2 that need restoration, parts, or service
Happy thanksgiving to all!!!!🦃

Anyone still on here with one? Also didn't the AC come with them as an option only? so some of these cars could be no radio no ac
I've owned my IX RS since 2012; i bought it with 27k miles and it currently has a tad under 69k miles on the odometer. It's stock except for Ohlins R/T. Never tracked - i chose the Ohlins because i believe they're a relatively compliant coilover for street/occasional canyon driving. And I bought an RS because it was the cleanest, low-mileage, stock example of a IX I could find, and I'd been looking for months. If I had found an MR or GSR with similar mileage/condition and bone stock, I probably would have opted for that tbh. As it turned out, I was fortunate. I initially lamented the lack of ABS and creature comforts, but over a decade later... I couldn't be happier with the simplicity and sheer rawness. I daily drive it and love every minute. Also, it came with A/C.Originally Posted by GLI Turbo

Ohlins is a quality brand. Did you ever put a radio in it? Originally Posted by pitchblende

The original owner installed a terrible-sounding head unit which I replaced with a basic, but better-sounding JVC Bluetooth head unit.Originally Posted by GLI Turbo

Btw i like the username; i owned a MKIV 20th Anniversary GTI.
Bought an 04 RS and 06 RS new. Sold the 04 with 250 miles ten years ago. Buyer sold it a few hundred more miles on it a few years later. Still have the 06. Has 260 miles. Never tell anyone I have it. As the offers are laughable. Not a car flipper. Seems like so many are today. Good for them. Just not my type of people.

Great cars. I chose that username bc at the time I had an 04.5 GLI "anniv" edition. My first car. Great platform. after the GLI I had a 337 edition, then eventually a mkiv R32. Still to this day the R is one of my all time favorite (and most enjoyable) cars. Like a Porsche hatch. I'd argue from 92-07 was the greatest run of Japanese & German performance & sport compacts. Everything after that was just ok..

I was able to get enough information about you from this site to know you might have a collection that is worth more than your business revenue in a year. Its crazy the times we are living in.
