evo oem 100mm crank

Quick question. How many of you guys using oem 100mm crankshaft for 4g63 stroker 2,3L and what power level? I know 2.3L is not ideal, but friend of mine will do 2.3L and want me to build the engine for it. I remember years ago some forums that they were cracking but wondering how many of you guys using them on a long run with no issues. Thanks!!!

Leverage and material has limits. Flex and bearing wear can occur if it doesn't crack at high levels or get rattled hard.

I wouldn't run a 100mm crank past 650-700whp and 8000-8500 rpm.Some people have better or worse luck +/-

Thank a lot for response. I have never used them in the past but I remember from old forums that some people had bad experience with them. Friend of mine have a good oem 100mm crank and he want's to use it. He will be running fp green turbo. Would you say in lower hp builds 450-480whp they are safe or it is still better to invest in Callies or something similar for a peace of mind. Thanks!!!

There was a learning curve for tuning in the past 15 years or so. Some guys rattled stuff more then others. You also had some parts issues from time to time.

An MHI green is too small for that 100mm crank. If you run it just keep the torque reasonable under 4000-5000rpm

Out of curiosity how will 2.3L stroker work with stock turbo? Like I mention I never build 2.3L before and I am wondering. I know best option would be fp red or black but how would that work with stock turbo? A lot of torque at low rpm and no power past 6k rpm?

Take a straw and put it in your mouth. Run 100 yards, then tell me how easy it was.

Too small of a turbo is hard on things. If you kept the boost very low until a turbo upgrade that may work out.

It would be pointless.

Yea I figured but had to ask heh. Are people doing a 2.3L anymore on evo? I was building only 2.0, 2.1 and some 2.2 in the last 10 years but not even one 2.3 stroker. I have left over parts 100mm crank, eagle rods 150mm and stroker manley pistons also spare block bored to the pistons and thinking if its a good idea to build a 2.3 and to make another 2.0 I can only use 150mm rods from those parts.

I know you used Eagle rods a lot on your builds, did you ever install eagle rods in to 2.3 stroker with fp gren or fp red turbo? Are they ok with that torque? I have eagle rods sitting in my shop just hesitating if I should use them for 2.3. Thanks!!

Thanks!! Any idea if Eagle ever re design them? I have this set probably for around 12 years sitting in my shop and I totally forgot about them. Couple weeks ago I was cleaning the shop and found them sitting in a box. New rods I just never used them. Wondering if it is exactly same rod as now.
