Has anyone found a non-modified Evo 9? Tired of checking 10 sites daily
I've been hunting for an Evo 9 for months and I'm exhausted from checking BaT, C&B, Rennlist, Craigslist, FB Marketplace, random dealer sites, etc. multiple times a day. I feel like I'm missing good ones or they sell before I see them.
How do you all handle this? Any tools or strategies that work well?
I started building something for myself to automate the monitoring, search, and reachout, and if anyone else is interested I'm happy to share when it's ready. But mostly just curious what's worked for you.

There were 4500 produced. Half of those got crashed into a ditch by yobbos immediately. The other half got modified in some way because of the ease of modifiability of the platform. I understand what you're trying to find I guess, but the reality is that if you find a modified Evo in good condition, you can (maybe) re-build it as OEM plus (which honestly would be sensible with how meh the original boost curve was to meet emissions) or probably return it to stock.
How do we all handle what exactly? Most of us either have, or have had Evos, some of us multiple, and we've probably all played some role in modding or unmodding something to fit our tastes.
You're basically looking for a needle in a haystack. I mean good luck and all that... please do join the community... even if you aren't interested in modding or unmodifying, the forum is really useful.
If I were to pass some judgement, which I would be cautious about, I would assume that you're nervous about something you might not fully understand? We can help with that...

^ I totally support going oem plus with these cars. Its like with gtr's I dont get the desire for those who search so hard for an all stock evo. There will always be the demand for collector/preservation purpose which is fine but the main reason they're all modified is because they take it so well (with quality and correct mods of course this is everything) Mitsubishi meant for that. Some rs versions in japan were stripped from factory to accommodate mods. As long as the chassis isn't butchered/cut up and the exterior/interior are pretty much stock spec I predict tastefully and properly modified evo 8/9s being worth more than their stock counterpart in the future. Why? look at restomod builds. There is a recent mustang boss 429 on jay lenos garage that proves my point exactly. Far from stock but more desirable with the exception of the powertrain swap which wouldn't apply to the evo. The 4g63 is peak engineering in automotive progression.
I have one that I'm the original owner of. I doubt there are too many more left. It's stock less the exhaust.
As said, these cars were bought by young guys that mostly totaled them within a few years by wrapping them around trees.
I'm old. I was one of the two or three 35+ year old guys that were here when the cars first came out and bought them new.
And then there was one.

Sorry I cant help you out. I attract the worst Evos to me. Recently I picked up the most beat up Evo 9 MR I have ever seen but it has some decent parts and the price was fair.

It really is incredible that the 9 was produced and sent here in such little numbers that they ended up all getting destroyed anyways. The MKIV VW R32 only got 5000 units sent here, the Focus RS, CTR, GD STi both blob and hawk where all pretty low production for the US market but all of those besides the VW had significantly more cars sold here.
Seems like the hardest one to find is a stock 9MR and RS in Rally Red or white
