Need An answer, from those of you who went through this. DOOR DINGS ?? KEYED...
Stick with this, there is a question at the bottom....
Ok, so I typically only track my Evo, and it sits 99.9999% of the time. But today, I drove it to work, love healthcare and holidays, but anyway. I went to lunch with a buddy, and we were testing some new software he got for logging from the ECU.
So, we head to lunch, and eat, review the data, and come back out to the car. Of course, I parked all along, except for a SUV, and a white car, which was over one spot. The spot next to my car on the driver's side was empty. Well, there is now a huge, and I mean 3in vertical ding in the door, down to the metal, where this JA opened the door on the car. So, now I am ticked, because you can see on the white car, where he did it, but nobody was eating out side, so they didn't see anything, but it was his car, we even measured the height, and the black paint on his white car was the clincher. So, I let it go, drove off, because I can't prove anything.
Then, I get home, and wash the car to totally determine the damage, and find someone had tried to key the other side on the back. This is unbelievable, I am so ticked, I am thinking of selling the thing, and getting some hooptie.
Anyway.......for those of you who had damage like this fixed, how much can I expect to pay, I mean, Can the insurance company expect to pay ???

that's what insurance is for man. if i you are lucky you can file the claim as a hit and run. this shouldn't affect your premium and your deductable will be lower. i got hit in a parking lot once and that is what i had to do.
Yeah, insurance will fix it (minus your deductable) and it will look great. If not, have them do it again! Likely the ding will get fixed with PDR (paintless dent repair). And let me tell you from experience the PDR guys can work magic. The key scratch, of course, will need some paint. If the shop is worth their weight in salt it should be no problem for them. And, like I said, if you're not 100% satisfied call the insurance company and tell them it needs to be redone; and they must by law have it redone.
Also, not sure about ALL states, but in most states you premium will not go up. It was a non-moving issue so you can't be held liable. Sorta like broken windsheilds.
Hope that helps a little. I know EXACTLY how you feel though. Same sh|t happened to my brand new lexus and I thought I would just take it back (three days old!!!); but the PDR was PREFECT and you couldn't tell at all there was ever any damage!!
Best of luck to you!! May the gutless little creep who keyed it rot in h3ll!!

yea man if it were me I prob. would have waited in the parking lot to see homeboy in the white car come out for a little word exchange as well as ins.information, file a claim and get it fixed. That sucks bro but I found that this stuff called like gs 2000 or something like that you can get it at WAL-MART it's one of those as seen on tv products but it worked great on getting out my key marks. oh yea and follow it up with a nice waxing and you be all good.

Somebody dinged my rear quarter panel, 4 inch door type ding. They fixed the ding but to do it right they had to paint the whole quarter panel and every thing attatched to it. $475.........
we need in car camera surveilance.
Usually the people who key your car are either a Redneck who drives a camero, mustang or those people who hates you or you've done something to.
What's your insurance deductable? I don't think it'll be covered by insurance, since it maybe cheaper than you think to get it fixed...

I feel you dude. I park in the farthest parking spot in the lot...my girlfreind hates it!! And it never fails, there is always some a$$hole who parks thier sh!tbox by me. I think people know what we are doing when we park that far away from everyone and park their POS by us to either **** us off, or to purposely hit the car. I have a Ding King and works wonders...Almost 99% effective. Try that first, and if the dent is still very noticable, then call a paintless dent repair company. Expect to spend about $75.00 to $125.00...Good luck either way!!
I had 4 panels keyed on my car before, with a tire slash. Costed me almost 2 grand, covered by insurance. I have vowed to kill this bastard if my installed surveillance camera ever catches him again.
