Possibly Trading the Evo in
I was just wanting some opininos here.. Basically I'm going to be going to school starting August 2nd and I'm going to be driving a good distance about 3 times a week or so. I think I want to trade the Evo in at this point for a Nissan Altima Automatic. They already basically told me they would give me 25k for it.. What do you think about that and what other cars under 20k would you recommend for comfortable driving on the highway along with dependable for getting around.
Thanks

WHy again would you trade an evo if its a long trip? Wouldn't you enjoy it more?
Well if you have doubts, then you should trade it in. For a commute, do you want a sporty car or just a gas saver, or a sedan?

Dude, I got rid of my POS 02 Altima V6 for the Evo. That thing was constantly in the shop. Blew 2 MAFs along with other issues like stalling at freeway speeds for no reason. They couldn't figure it out. I almost got killed by a rig when the car died at 75 MPH in the center lane.
My other ride is a 04 Accord coupe V6. A hell of a lot nicer than the Nissan ever was and just as quick. It's a nice freeway commuter car.
Just keep the Evo. Man, some people don't appreciate what they have. There are people out there that would kill to own an Evo and you want to get rid of it. Why? Because you have to drive to school. HELLO -- THAT'S WHAT THE CAR IS FOR.

Get an Accord 4 cylinder or a Civic. Not an Altima.
Or get a beat up Civic. you could get one for less than $1000. Than you could have both.
25k is a good price for a trade tho... That would more than pay for the Altima, I'd say.

Dude, buy a beater...that's what I am doing for the summer months coming up...just get like a $500 piece of **** and relish that fact that you have an EVO VIII hibernating in your garage...As for Nissan North American products...they are **** **** and more ****!! I had a 2002 SE-R Spec V and it consumed over 2 quarts of oil in between oil changes. Then, at like 15,000 miles, my intake manifold shattered into pieces and fragments went into the head, cylinders, etc...IT WAS A MESS!! I got focked on the warranty...took them over 75 days to get the part and left me with a rental (Hyundia) while I was paying for the Sentra....The Nissans that are sold in the U.S market are mostly built in Mexico...nuff said!!
There's many cool commuter cars for under $20k.
You can get a Scion xA or xB for $13k-$15k brand new and get between 30 and 38 mpg but not much performance or wait for 2005 tC with more horses for around $18k.
You can also get an Acura RSX, Mazda 3, Ford Focus SVT or Hyundai Tiburon V6.
I'd go to edmunds.com and check out your options.
It's a tough choice but on most of these cars you aren't going to get much better mileage than on the Evo.
You can also wait for 2005 hybrid Accord which will get awesome mileage but will most likely be more than $20k.
I'm not a fan of Nissan brand products (cheap looking interior and bulky exterior) and Infiniti cars are pricy.

You can't get good gas milage on EVO. It's impossible!
I drove it under 3000RPM for a week and it still ran out before I could finish the week!
lol.
I'm a NISSAN fan too. They make some seriously deadly engines. I mean, some serious HP making sleeper engines.
All are made for turbo (back in the days) with pre oil squirters in N/A engines and everything.
They make good looking, reliable cars.
I almost got a 3.5 Manual Altima fully loaded before I got the EVO bug.
You could fit 4 bodies in that trunk.
