I've got a 2002 Evo VII RSII here in the states. I brought it in through Barcelona with some help. The car is awesome. I've got a full euro spec version. The car is awesome. It pulls crazy hard, and seems to never slow down. With a few mods it will be runnin' 12.5's no problem. Don't hate....love your EVO 8. The car will be closer to the WRX than the Evo VII. I used to own a WRX, and it was disappointing.

Out of curiousity, and since other people will undoubtedly ask, would you mind giving us some details on how you legalized your Evo? (Perhaps in a new thread so we don't completely hijack this one)

Hobie, I assume you're talking to 'Yellow7' right? I'd love to know how he legalized it as well, and if it is legal, is it CA. legal as well?

What in the world are you smoking?

EVO HAS
1. Much Higher capacity intercooler.
2. Much better suspention comparable to sti not wrx.
3. Brembo brake vs. single piston 11" brakes.
4. 17" rims with 235 tires vs 205 16"
5. Limited slip center diff at worst maybe ACD.
6. Stronger 5 speed tranny.
7. Higher capacity injectors capable of over 310hp which the WRX max out at.
8. A lot larger turbo. The WRX's turbo is horrible sti has VF30 or something which is better. With the the wrx dinky turbo and high pressure drop stock intercooler you'd be lucky to get 15psi without over heating the damn thing.
9. No uppipe. "need i say more?"
10. WRX computer loves timing pull if you didn't know?
11. Wrx has crap motor/tranny mounts what clunk when shift rapidly.
12. Soft shock mounts on wrx.
13. Evo has larger exhaust than wrx.
14. Recaro racing seats vs. ugly airbag seats.

Tell me how are they comparable? To tell you the truth it wouldn't surprise me if the evo 8 would be a revised evo 7.

Question

Hey Yellow 7,

Are you the owner of the Yellow Evo VII that was shown in the drag video in Florida in a earlier post?

While I do agree that the EVO should be better than the WRX, it does not take too much money to get the WRX on world class par.

I would say <$5000 and that amount should about equal the cost of the EVO when it gets here.

And, the WRX has twin pot brakes in the front, not single...while they do suck, I just had to correct you!

Airbag seats are cool with me...they COULD save your life.

Andy,

We both know it's over 5K if you own a wrx. Lets just say we've been working and modding my bro in laws car for quite a while. Mid october is the big day for UTECH=NO timing pull!! Dyno and tuned! The correct way!!

If your curious here is his mods.
1. Turbo XS Stage 2
2. Shiv's upipe
3. BPM intercooler or something with larger sti hood scoop.
4. Stop tech lines/ Dot 4 combo with EBC pads.
5. Prodrive P1's with SO2's
6. Pulley set.
7. Air spliter.
8. kartboy shifter
9. Sti group N mounts.

Thats on top of my head for performance.

Non performance upgrades.
1. Subaru ground effects.
2. Sti foglight covers.
3. Xenon light.
4. Subaru guage Mods.
5. Momo shifter knob.

We will be close to the last day on the track. Hopefully we'll do low 13's high 12's if lucky.

I think we'll hit a wall soon and here are the....

Restraints:
Turbo limited 310hp.
Trans limit around 340hp with that corresponding torque.
Needs stronger clutch after 320hp.
Need stronger Trans.
Need sti injectors and fuel pump.

Here is some good knowlede for people who think 30-35k for a sti or evo is expensive. Actually much cheaper than modding it yourself, trust me!

It's easy to say and make a 24K wrx faster than a stock evo but make it handle as well on the road or just as reliable with the mods is a differnt story.

General knowledge people should know before consider a WRX. I wish people speak on the good and bad on their cars. The bottom line is that if my evo 8 has fault in mods or whatever I'll tell everyone so they know about the car "good/bad or general knowledge"

I bought my EVO7 back on April 8th. I still dont have it. The first 5 cars are the test bed for the rest of you guys.

All I can say " I hate paperwork" and "F**king red tape"

It better be worth the wait

In a way, I'm so used to the waiting and all. For my 2000 Type R, i must have waited 3 months, when it was only supposed to take about 6 weeks. They always gave me the same response, "2 weeks it will be here dont worry." I always was on top of it though. I'm kinda not that bother by the wait, afterall its all worth the wait.

Once these first 5 cars are legalized things should move much faster for the rest of the cars since the bs paperwork will be out of the way.

I wanted to buy an R so I went to a local dealer... turned they had one coming in the next day with no one preordering it so I bought that one. I really lucked out on that because I couldn't wait for it!
