EVO sounds like **** with A/C on?

Well I finally broke down and started using the A/C here.. its HOT!

My EVO sounds like a big turd with the A/C on.. lots of kind of clicking and stuff that's really annoying..

Anyone else having this issue?

I think it sounds pretty bad too. It's dog slow also. I have to push it hard or it sounds hard just to make it go.

yeah mine sounds like *** with ac on too. I just leave it off ALL the time. I would rather have the windows open anyway. Probably gonna take the ac out when i get the chance. damn should've waited for an RS......

BTW.....there are dyno charts somewhere that show between 25-30whp LOSS with the ac on!!!!

Ok then I'm not alone.. more noise than any car i've had...

I do notice some power loss but I'm not really worried about it.. its not near the loss i had in other n/a cars.

LOL! Hell yeah! That has happened to me too. You're risking your life when you turn on the AC.

Only at idle

Yeah sure, it idles a little rougher when running MAX A/C. But does anybody really care about the power loss when their using it? If I have the A/C on, I'm not trying to go fast. I'm just trying to get somewhere. For very spirited driving, I roll the windows down, turn the stereo off, and listen to that beautiful exhaust.

Compare it to _any_ other 4 cyclinder 2000 cc car with the A/C on.

^ because it takes horsepower to drive the belts for the ac, fan etc.

I'm not expert on the A/C system (but i'll go look at my car in a bit), but aren't the fans driven by the electrical system. I though the compressor was the only thing using mechanical power.

Anybody know for sure?
