IS that plumers tape? If it is take it off. I hope you bought is aluminum knob at your mitsubishi dealer http://www.mitsubishiparts.net/catalog/?section=89#223. Much nicer and shorten throw!

Maybe he installed a short shifter that uses a non-standard knob? Hard to tell from that pic but it kinda looks shorter than stock.

I think it might be a different shifter all together. Plummer's tape is like a really thin plastic wrapped around the thread. It's sort of give it a loc-tite effect. On that picture it looks yellow but if it was there you probably would of noticed it.

i think you guys are right.... its a non-standard knob w/ an aftermarket shifter....

this irritates me... any idea how much a stock one (shifter) costs?

If i were you I'd take advantage of the shorter throw and buy a shifter knob you like. Perhaps buy MOMO knob or something to match your steering wheel

I agree, why not put on an aftermarket shifter. I bought mine from someone on this board who sells them for $35. It shifts much nicer than stock.

I agree, if thats the case then just buy a nice aftermarket knob. One with a nice weight to it.

Or buy a used shifter from someone that replaced theirs with an aftermarket one. It's gotta be cheaper than the dealer.
