The Evo not an expensive automobile... so why would anyone go all out and spend a lot of money on some tubing and a muffler?

Exactly my point, a 3" catback will all do the same job, why pay more for a name? Plus Megan Racing is a good company, not like Naxos or Weapon R. lol

so expensive parts are only reserved for "expensive" cars? that's complete bs. now, i'm not saying i'd go out and buy some $2k titanium/carbon/platinum exhaust on my evo, but quality does go a long way. if MR makes a good product for a great price, good for us, but please, dont discount the evo as not 'deserving' expensive products just because you dont see it as an 'expensive' automobile... for some people (such as myself), $30g's isn't chump change.

Yeah, I've been saving since I was 11 to buy a nice car, and dropping all of my savings (though admittedly saved for this purpose) does not seem inexpensive to me.

Do yourself a favor and buy good parts.

You're missing the point... people are getting bent out of shape when someone wants to "get their money's worth", using the ridiculous statement, "you bought a $30,000 car... and want to by a cheap exhaust?" (I'm soooo tired of this statement regardless of the part) It is an Evo and not a Ferrari! Even an exhaust system for a Ferrari is still just tubing and mufflers. Granted, some designs work better than others, but not 2 to 300% better.

I think it also depends on what route you want to go..personally I own an import shop and ive sold megan parts not only for th evo and i think theyre very good quality parts for the price..I was definitely impressed (compared to OBX or something )....but lets say youre the kind of personl ike me, who is a jdm enthusiast..I dont want to put nothing on my evo thats not jdm....I prefer them because ther quality is there and the evo's have been around for some time now...jdm parts have been tested for years.....another thing is too is that my car is going to shows and putting lesser than JDM parts is not going to cut it...for me....anyways, just my .2 cents...

Uh, yall need to calm down. Designing an exhaust isn't rocket science. So brand "B" isn't going to perform, fit, sound, or look like brand "A", but it would be close. MR is half the price of some mentioned brands, and many members have vouched it's quality. Why not give it a shot? You could use that cash towards other "go fast" mods.

Sounds like some of you are trying to justify why you spent more.

gruppe-s has a Helix 3" turbo -back for $799 can't get any cheaper than that. It's a very well crafted system for the $$$

That's still $300 more than you can get the MR for... and about the same as Buschur's.

I'd like to hear the difference of the sound between the Helix and MR though. All I've heard is people say they both "sound good". Well, that is relative... To the old farts, quiet sounds good (best).

I went through this same thing when I bought my exaust. I want a good performing exaust for a good price. I'm a family man with young kids, so my Evo is just my play toy. I don't care for any particular brand names, I want quality performing parts for a good price. Believe me they are out there. I bought the Megan Racing like the other guys are saying. The quality is top notch as was the customer service. I bought mine through James a real good guy you can see his link below. I was turned on to him by several other guys on the site and got an awesome price. In my previous occupation as a mechanic you learn with everything just because its the most expensive and the prettiest don't mean you'll get any more performance out of it. I never get many people that want to lay down and look under my car at the exaust anyway. Wether it be a SCCA race or show.

Here's a link to some exhaust sound clips. They test the Helix but with a different test pipe.

Does Megan Racing exhaust still require the purchase of hardware and gaskets or are they packaged with the unit? I read in one of the reviews that the downpipe needed a gasket and the exhaust needed a few bolts.
