No and No. boxer 4 vs. inline turbo 4, each without any sort of Variable Valve Timing...here's what one site had to say about the new STI.

Compared to the Evo 7, the STi is a bit more sluggish, with a heavier gearchange and softer throttle response and brake pedal but its still very potent compared to anything else on the road

which version then? The info I was able to obtain from Subaru Tecnica International on the 2003 didn't mention VVT at all. They do have like 3 STI trim levels now though.

All JDM WRXes and WRX Stis have variable valve timing on the intake cam. The euro STi does not I believe.

No Lancer Evo's do.

It would probably increase the hp significantly but R&D equals alot of $$$$$.

I know that R&D costs money but winning in the WRC can be fairly profitable and a new engine feature could help them against the smaller cars.

I mean come on is currently tied with skoda for 4th and they only have 8 points.

Even if mitsubishi had it I doubt they could use it the WRC, and they are restricted to 300BHP anyway. Mitsubishi already has some things on the road car that they can't use in the WRC, like when they were disqualified from the Australian round a couple of years ago because they had to replace a turbo just before the event and they forgot to blank off a cooling pipe that the road car has but they can't use in the WRC. Anyway just remember that the WRC cars are nothing like the real cars, the current leader doesn't have an awd car and Subaru is using a front mount intercooler (these are just two small differences).

Yeah it isn't doing too good this year but that has to do alot with a new chassis replacement (VII) and a new driver bugs.. Once the car is set up for the likes and dislikes of the driver, more comfortable he'll be in the driver seat. You guys have remember, bent over backwards for TOMMI and he ended up leaving anyways. There's always growing pains when your co. changes car and driver in the same season...Hopefully, WRC2 will get some of the handling problems worked out. Remember, Mc Crae and FORD went through some of the same headache.
