My XEDE arrived about 2 weeks after I installed my exhaust. The XEDE was a much bigger performance boost.

Hey LACED, your warranty is now void for thinking about moding the car.

go with the xede later, those basic bolt ons will give you some safe power gains that you'll notice. With finer tuning with the xede after that, expect anoter 20-30whp. So do the bolt ons first.

I agree with starting bolt ons first. Why get tuned with stock parts. First thing should be a boost gauge, turboback exhaust, drop-in filter or cone style and boost controller to hold your boost solid. You will feel nice gains with those.

It was funny. Everyone got there BOV's at the same time.... we all had them and liked them, always blowing off. Then about 6 months after everyone got blow off valves, people started to sell them. Now, everone is on stock or atleast has a recirculating blow off valve. If you want a B.O.V. make sure its a recirculating BOV, because then you wont have as many problems. Go with an intake/ exaust/ boost gauge and controller. Then do fuel and tuning..... thats my opinion atleast !!!

What kind of problems can occur? So a recirculating BOV should be fine?

Yeah, you don't need an upgraded BOV unless your going to run over 21 PSI boost or if yours is leaking (which the boost gauge will tell you) and you don't want to run over 19-20 PSI without fuel managment (xede/safc/ems/utec). The open intake I wouldn't do before you had a way to tune it, either. But that's your call.

If I were to start over again modding my Evo, I would start with the Speed Source bushings. Both the Shifter base bushings and the shifter cable bushings. It took care of a lot of the slop in the shifter. I also did a Kartboy short shifter, doesn't effect 1-4 much but it does make the throw to 5th much quicker. I like the shifter but it isn't as big a deal in the Evo as most other cars.

Speed Source

Kart Boy

As always, just my $0.02. And no, I am not a paid endorser.

Your very first mod should be a boost gauge. Then go with bolt on's like intake, exhaust, IC pipes, BOV's MBC, etc etc etc...

Oh yeah get a dyno flash too...

Personally I went in this order:

- Upgrade stock stereo system
- Underhood shifter bushings, shifter cable bushings
- Greddy Type-S BOV
- Vishnu Stage 1 Sig., Innovative LM-1 wideband O2, Omori Gauges, XEDE flash, custom tune

Future mods:
- Cusco rear strut tower brace and V-brace
- OEM trunk bar
- HKS filter for stock airbox
- HKS 272 cams ... and retune (will hopefully = mission accomplished)
- Works Croxx plate

... all the rest will be bling, hehe

I already have a boost gauge. The car came with the factory gauge pod, shift knob,e brake lever, pedals, etc.I plan on getting the 3 gauge with the stereo relocator with the 60mm Defi gauges. But I got to wait for a couple weeks after seeing the prices of those gauges.Im gonna do the RMR center mount boost gauge at the same time. The factory one works ok just hard to see.My car hits 1.5 and levels to right around 1.3 to redline. The only thing Ive done was put a turbo timer on it the day I bought it and then I pulled the front clip off and changed all the turbo and intercooler lines band clamps to all spring loaded Y band clamps I got from a Freightliner shop. Those clamps are bad *** and fit perfect. Its what the big trucks use on there cooling systems.SS and wide and strong.I also pulled the boost pill out. That made a huge diffrence.I couldnt believe how loose all the lines where on my car.Im gonna go with the bolt on's and get the piggy back soon after. Thanks everyone
