Depends on what you mean by 'wrong oil'....if you mean you put thick gear oil in there instead of Mobil1 10w30, it would be bad. If you put in some non synthetic oil for a few miles, you will be fine. If you put in the wrong weight oil, you are probably ok as long as it is not excessively hot or cold outside.

For warranty reasons you might not want to go bragging about it after you get it fixed. Although...I'm tempted to call the service manager at my dealer and ask:
"Can you help me with a problem? I've found the synthetic oil to be a little expensive, so I tried olive oil..."

did your oil light come on?
did the car make 'outrageous sounds' IMMEDIATELY, like before you even left the dealership?
very likely there was no oil in it at all. it happens... usually at quick-lube chains though.

well the second i left the dealership i had the music on i couldnt really hear but.. i felt a lack in power and i turned everything off and listened about 4 blocks away from teh dealership and i knew something was screwed up but i couldnt bring it back that day, they closed the second i picked up the car..
Someone at the office took his car (Toyota Corolla) in for an oil change, and 30 miles down the road the engine siezed.
They forgot to put oil back in. Silly dealer. Took 3 months of arbitration and hassle, and dealing with two botched short block jobs. Toyota of NA ended up giving him a brand new Corolla, top trim, fully loaded.
If I were you, check everything (get someone knowledgeable about cars if necessary), document it to death, and be prepared to fight it tooth and nail.

the high temp protections offered by full synthetic 10w30 or even 10w40 is *plenty*. you're flat out using the wrong oil!
