Question Should I Buy A Crashed Evo??

GUYS I NEED SOME ADVICE

i want to buy a evo really bad, i currently own a highly modded supra ,and a 2001
civic {daily driver} i have around 16 thousand in cash , so i dont have enuff for
a used one, there curently selling on ebay for around 25 grand

WELL there selling a crashed 2003 evo for 12,500 {he said the price is negotiable}
i have not seen the car in person but he said its been hit in the front and back
ALSO he said there is frame damage, and his estimate to fix the car is 8 thousand

now im really intersated beacause
A. i have the cash to buy it
B. I will have time to save money and have a shop repair it
C. im planning on modding it "so why buy a mint one

HERE are my worries i have never owned a repaired car, and im worried about alot of things, WILL IT DRIVE THE SAME AS NEW????
plus he said when it got hit, some parts from the motor got damaged

i plan on bringing an auto body guy with me on monday to have the car checked
out , but how do i know if the motor is not damaged??????

sorry for the long *** post im just really excited about this project {if i buy it}
any comments , advce , suggestions would be really apprciated

DONT MIND MY SPELLING :] `JOHNNY K

My advice for you is go and see it for yourself and take that mechanic, but remember there are alot of things you can see with just your eyes. In my opinion all cars can be fixed but as for back to perfect, I dont think that is possible, If the guy is selling it cheap buy it and its now a great project. 8 grand does not sound like alot are you sure, how small are the damages? whatever you do good luck it should be fun to fix it up.

i wish he was selling it for 8 he is asking $ 12,500 but said can go lower
im thinking of offering him 10 grand, this dealer sells salvaged cars i know that
after it gets repaired someone has to inspect the car

if im not mistaked only "oe parts" can be used and you need receipts for all the parts
for the inspection, i will keep you guys updated im going monday to look at it
WITH CASH IN HAND !!!!!!

ooops sorry i ment 8 grand to fix is not that much, because I have had my car damaged in little areas of the car like window broken and door damaged and paint and labor came out to close to three grand, so you said I think 8 grand to fix the car Im thinking its not in that bad of shape, well either way, good luck !!!!

Plenty of 'em have been in accidents. When was the first one cracked up? Within the first week of release I believe?

You'll be sorry, been there and didn't like it. The type of damage you describe can be repaired to the point that the car is safe but I would bet that chassis alignment (body and frame are mono with the aluminum suspension assemblies attached) will never be correct enough to give you Evo level performance. I'd look for one with a non-warrantable blown engine, I'd bet the price would be similar and you'd have a perfect car after you do your fixups. Save your money, believe me I have been in your shoes, the risk isn't worth it unless you are just after parts.

i bought my last car wrecked.. it had minor frame damage so it always pulled to the side and the alignment never came out so it went through a lot of tires. I wouldn't do it, from experience. Why not take that $16,000 and make a down payment on a new Evo and finance the rest? on a 6 year loan if you have good credit, even financing $20k is only a little over 300 a month. I just bought a brand new 2004 fully loaded evo and i paid 10k cash and financed 20k for 6 years at 4.5% interest. My payments are only $319/mo

for a 16K, I would get a WRX used and play with that. They could go fast, I mean real fast.

well that one guy that posted got me thinking, do you guys know of any

evo,s with blown engine,s or theft recovery,s etc???? the car is so new im surprised
that i found this wrecked one locally, as far as buying a new one "bad credit"

i missed out on a killer deal on ebay, some guy was selling his used evo for $22,000
but it was sold when i inquired about it, maybe i should just save more money and
buy a used one

i want to modify it so buying a mint one doesn,t make that much sense
