Long Trips

Has anyone taken a long trip with the EVo? Like across the country, a 1000mile roadtrip or something like that?

I'm wanting to with it, but I don't know if it could endure it. If something breaks, when I'm in middle of Neveda Desert, I'll be pissedd.

I just drove from NY to OH and back, the trip was very easy on the car.

Now, the beating I put it through at Mid Ohio, that's another story.

Hehe, didn't get stranded or anything, I love this thing. I'm driving it x-country this winter for some ice racing action in Colorado, will let you guys know how it works out.

I have taken a few 500 mile trips and it is enough to make me not want to. I am skinny with a boney ***, its too rough on me and the wife. My car is a toy, but it is not a road trip car. imop the evo will beat you up on missouri highways.

I drive my evo about three times a year to houston from here in ga. which is about 1000miles one way.
Needless to say I wish the car had cruise control.

I went to Canada and came back to San Diego last month. I put 3600+ miles on the car. Had no problems. The only thing I would change is the seats. I can deal with the hard suspension but the seats suck for long trips. Can't sleep in them comfortably either.

A single 1000 mile trip will definitely leave you yearning for cruise control. Believe it or not, i get the epa-spec 28mpg on 93 octane at 65 mph. You might be wishing for more, but 28 ain't bad.

I'm sure everyone has noticed, but there is only _one_ good driving position in the evo: hands at 10 &2, back straight. It's hard to do that for 12 hours at a time. Any other position really isn't comfortable. Oh, it would be nice if 5th were set to a little lower ratio. Crusing in 5th will put you at about 3k rpms. I bet you'd get better mileage and less noise at 2.5k.

I don't know about you but if I'm doing 75-80 like on an interstate it's closer to 3500-4k RPMs. The EVO loves cruising at about 60-65, gets great mileage there. But if you stick to the 75-80 it starts dropping off considerably. I'm bone stock too.

I did a VA to NJ to CA drive in my Evo. The car is a little rough on long trips. But we had no problems or back aches upon arriving in CA....

I did a round trip recently from Vegas to LA in 1 day (600 miles). I have done this trip in many different cars over the years and the Evo is by far the most enjoyable ride. The Recaros are very supportive and power is right on tap. Going up mountain passes in 5th gear at 100+ is no sweat. The car barely flinches.

I dont think a long trip would be too bad. The leather Recaro's are very comfortable, atleast I think so. Cruise control would be a big help too, but you can get that for a couple hundred bucks.
