I have a problem....
well to be honest you are picking the wrong car if you want a "sleeper" type of a car.. you'll actually have to spend money to trim it down as it comes looking very aggressive and as you say "ricy" from stock... you'll have to blacken the front and rear lights, remove the nice enkeis and install some cheapo GM-ish rims, get the low profile spoilers and color the intercooler black to hide it....
i respect the evo because it looks aggressive and has the power and handling to back it up and it can take majority of cars out there not only on a drag race , but also on a road course and braking contest.... the evo's heritage screams aggressiveness, you cant really deny that.... maybe getting a used eclipse and modding it into a sleeper dragster car is what you need cuz it sounds like you may regret it after buying the evo RS

"I just think that the Evo deserves more respect. It's not a damn Civic and it seems to be treated that way..."
If you don't like what people have done to their EVOs then don't do it if you get one. I don't understand what your PROBLEM is though. I don't have a riced out EVO, but I do have stickers on it. I am sponsered and sports some big ole Boost Solutions stickers. You blab about prices on HKS products, but don't really get it. Some prices are high because certain products aren't available in the US so you are forced to buy directly from Japan and are taxed. Not only that but the products take forever to get here. I think I know what your problem is. You are bored and have nothing better to do than to blabbity boo hoo. It's OK though because we are too bored as we responded to you meaningless post.
Cheers!

at least i will have a newer car that is worth way more and is a much better platform so i can roadrace around your 8 sec car. dude, the evo is not a drag car and that is not why i bought it. i love the evo stock and i think that comparing the evo to a talon should be illegal in at least 50 states. if all you wanted to do was come here and start talking crap about the evo and how good your 1g is, than you sir are a troll. i have seen at least 200 evo's in the past year only 3 of them have been "rice" as you say it. most people here are performance oriented and most of them put all of their money into the engine.

I would have $10,000 in a car that would annihilate any Evo in the country and for half the price of a bone stock car.
You want a 14 year old car, that's cool but we don't want to spend $10k on a car that's not even worth that value and time. To each his own........
Well, the Evo definitely gets more respect than the civic.. Keep in mind, that although I don't like some of the body kits, and I don't particularly care for the stock giant wing on my car, they do have a purpose and they are functional components.. You'll find that although there's alot of aftermarket dressup items, a vast majority of them are functional and not really appearance.. (the Evo MR Vortex generator is a perfect example of an addon that some people like, I personally think its appearance is hideous, but its functional)
the "Expensive" front spoilers actually increase downforce over the front wheels, the wing increases downforce over the rear..
This car was never intended to be a "Drag car" and it shouldn't be compared as such, its a drivers car. If your intent is to blaze some insane quarter mile times, but drivability, and handling in turns isn't a huge concern, then a 1G DSM may be a better choice. I do like the amazing handling of this car, first and foremost.. and I've bolted on a bunch of components that improve its performance without sacrificing what makes the car what it is..
Keep in mind that EVERY car out there has its good seed, and bad seed.. I certainly don't use this forum as a measurement of the community since the member's here are actually a sampling of the owner community, but a MINORITY of the owners actually post on here. Most lurk around, or never even have heard of the forum.
Just remember, the Evo is a car that can and does run with cars many times its price, and in some categories can exceed them.. If your a car enthusiast who appreciates drivable but hardcore cars.. then this is the car for you.. If you want to go fast in a straight line, there are other similarly priced cars out there that can do it just as easily, and will cost you alot less to get there.
