when can I go to the track?

My evo has about 1500 miles on it, redline twice, most of them are under 3500 went between 4500 and 6000 few times, launch it once at 4500 and launch it once at 5500. When do you guys think I should go to the track, I don't know if the car is ready for that yet. Should I wait until it gets over 3000 miles?

Your break-in period ended a few hundred miles ago. Get out there and break something

i went at about 2000... 500 miles goes by in about a week for me so i had the car for a month before i went...

don't be afraid to hurt ur stock clutch.. its weak.. but pretty tuff.. if u smell alot of clutch on ur first run take one more run and then i would stop runnin... come back in about a week do the same thing.. if u smell alot of clutch take one more run... then u should be fine... i did that and im not havvin any problems w/ the stock clutch... just a faint smell after one nite at the track of 12, 1.7-1.8 sixty foots...

What kind of track you talking about? going dragging or playing around on an circuit/autocross?

If you are talking about circuit/autocross, i'd definitely take your car to some sort of clinic/racing school, Like skip barbers or something. I don't know if you have already done this or not, however I know it would be the first "mod" i would do. Having some experience driving with an instructor and classroom time can be very valuable in learning how your car react to different situations.

I was out at the strip running the quarter (bone stock), to baseline my car, at around 900 miles. No problems so far; knock on wood! Break in is usualy 600 miles or so.

Go have some fun!!

I am going to get 1/4 mile time for my stock evo, I want to see how fast can it run without any mods at all, bone stock. People claim it can run mid 13 or lower, this way I can figure out my driving skills.

Yeah, you can have a camera in the car if it's secured. Just don't drive down the track with it in your hand . Don't forget your helmet too.

As for 13s, you should be fine. I ran 13.5 @ 100 bone stock off of a 2.0 60 during the colder months. Why 2.0? Tyres wouldn't grip because it was so cold so I had wheelspin on all 4 corners. You should be able to hit mid 13s even in this horrid weather.

i spent a weekend at skip barber and would strongly recomend it to anyone wanting to do any kind of circut driving. one of the most fun experiences of my life, they give you the keys to a bran new viper and tell you to beat the snot out of it.

I will cut my hair today, hopefully it will take out some weight off the car, and also is helmet neccessary? well I don't have one in my house, but I do have a hat something to cover to my head. As far as wheather I don't think my car will perform as good as mid 13s plus I'm not that good at driving, I live in houston, it is average 85-90 out there.

If you hit 13s then, yes, a helmet is necessary. I live in Houston too (well, Pearland actually but I work in Houston) so I know just how hot & humid it is here (when it isn't raining). Like I said: I was hitting 13.5 on a 2.0 60' - which would equate to a 13.2 or so off of a 1.8 60' - in the winter months so a mid to high 13 is very possible even taking the weather into account. I might be out at HRP this Sunday so I'll look for you if I am.
