worst i've ever heard of course was my friend..... the car or cars i should say were of course ITRs..... his first ITR got jacked from a UCLA parking lot! nothing special....
his NEXT type R got taken FROM his Brentwood gated apt complex. The Crazy part is that he had his roommates BMW 330 parked behind him!
So the theives got into the underground parking complex, broke into the BMW, moved the BMW, took out his club w/ another steering wheel, took off his clutch lock, disabled his viper alarm! Well this all would have been fine since he had loJack. Well to finish it off, they found his loJack chip sitting in dumpster somewhere in Inglewood!

Dayam! That's some crazy ****! I guess ITRs are a super hot commodity.

I think the tow truck method is a bit harder for AWD cars. It'd be a lot harder to do a quick getaway by towing the car on two wheels as the wheels on the ground will drag if the other two aren't turning.

Theft

If thieves want a car bad they'll get it one way or another.
If they know a car is pretty hard to steal, they'll come up with something.
All they have to do is disconnect the battery, so the alarm and immobilser aren't functioning, Pop the locks on the drivers door, put car in Neutral and pick it up on the back of a flat bed car carrier, (preferably covered) so as the truck drives off they can look for all the other crap, and start disassembling the car.

The best Alarm and Immobilser to get is one where it has it's own battery back up, so if they do disconnect the car battery the alarm is still armed.

Now personally if someone comes up with Shields (like in the batman car) then that would be a little bit better but remember this, If man made it, then man can break it.
that unfortunately gentlemen is the price for owning such a hot commodity, and protecting it as much as you can will do wonders.
Don't listen to guys who say " thats why we have insurance"
BS, the insurance companies are out to make money, if there is a problem with car being stolen a lot they will jack up the rates, not to mention if your car is stolen, they will do anything they can to not pay out the full amount the car is worth.

We have had organized bands of thieves in Dallas that will hit a whole parking lot. They just target hot looking cars and convertibles. I have a 2-way pager alarm system and I would recommend that. I have chased thieves off twice and they didn't get anything. I only had to replace my driver's side window (twice) and the center console ($20 part).

I have yet to hear of any EVOs getting stolen yet. I have heard of STi's getting stolen. It doesn't seem like anyone has figured out how to get past our engine immobilizer system. This is a very good thing.

The reason you hear of STi's getting stolen is because the 2004 model did not have an immobilizer. The 2005 model does. So it is not like the thieves have figured out one car, but not the other. The STi and Evo are now both hard to steal without a flatbed.

How about one of those car covers that look like a beat up POS car. There is a commercial with a new car covered by a cover like that and the owner removes it real quick so no one sees him. Funny idea. Might look real from far away.

Wow that is insane!

Be thankful Evo's aren't like ITR's here, but for how long?

The two brands that have that feature are Viper and Clifford. Clifford was bought out by Directed Electronics, who also owns Viper. Only the higher end Clifford G5 series has the anti-carjacking/code required system to drive the car. I have it on my '91 Eclipse GSX and it left me stranded once because the switch used to enter the code failed. The feature can be turned off if you want. Regardless, I would buy a Clifford alarm again and would recommend it to anyone.

I have the best system ever. I went to the Local animal shelter and "Rescued" a Fighting Pit Bull. For the most part he stays in my trunk next to the spare. Every time I park the car, i get the dog out, beat the **** out of it, show it pictures of Foofy Poodles to further anger it, then lock it in the car.

People do not even park near my car now.

The stock immobilizer is pretty good. But still if someone wants the car bad enough there are always ways of getting it. A couple things to keep in mind is Thievs want a quick steel. So if you have an additional kill switch it just takes that much longer to get around. There are also security systems that use air shocks to lower the car all the way to the ground This is a great system from a security standpoint because how are you going to move the car if its sitting on the ground instead of the wheels. only bad thing about the system is it can really mess up low body kits and air suspension isn't half as good as the evo's suspension when it comes to performance.
Simple things to do are
1 don't leave valueable things in plain sight
2 don't park your car in places that theft is high
3 make sure you always lock your doors and have windows up
4 use common sence (don't go blastin your stereo through a ghetto neighborhood then leave your car there overnight etc)
