best way to protect your car from thieves?

Is there any way you can make your car from being stolen? Besides tracking devices what other things can you do to make sure no one even drives off with your car? Even with the best alrams im sure they can still some how start your car. Those sterring wheel locks or pedal locks dont work because those just kind of deters them away but im sure if they really want your car they will easily break them. Those things that they mount on the steering wheels is so lame, all you have to do is cut a part of the steering wheel and pop them out.

You should use a combination of the devices! Alarm, autolock and club!!! Remember thieves want to get in and out as quick as possible! So the harder you make it the more they will just fray from stealing the whole car! Now you might just get your car vandalized, broken into or they steal the wing! But thats the risk you take by buying any car pretty much!!! Good luck in finding something that works for you!!!!

I hear you can also have a switch to disconnect the fuel line but they will eventually still get to it. It just lags them but at the end the car is still gone.

yea... i think i've heard of some factory security systems that will shut off the fuel pump. It'd be cool if someone could figure out if we can wire a switch to the cockpit. Then, you could just put that switch in an unusual place, and most theives won't notice it.

1) Out of sight; out of mind. A private garage in a "good" neighborhood goes a long way to preventing theft

2) Don't leave the car overnight in parking lots

3) Lose the big wing - the car is almost invisible to most people with the wing removed.

4) Alarms are almost useless these days - when was the last time you responded to a car alarm going off.

5) Immobilizers are useless if the theives use a tow truck to ****** your ride

6) A professional car thief will get your car, regardless of what you do to protect it. Luckily for us, the fact that our cars are cheap means that a professional is going after a BMW or a Porsche before an Evo. So that means that non-professional joy-rider types are most likely the thief. Immobilizers, clubs and trackers will work against this type of criminal.

I have a kill switch in my car, and it you try and start it it just seems like a dead battery. Flip the switch and it starts up fine. Nobody's gonna bother stealing a car with a dead battery.

When I worked for a company that installed security systems in houses people would ask my boss what the best security system on the planet was.
He'd reply: "A GS-100"
"What's that?"
"A German Shepard 100lbs"

What kind of a kill switch are you refering to, a kill switch that you add and is hidden? I would think that maybe you would have to hit 2 switches that they would not even know what it looks like because they will be looking all over under the dash for it. For instance you would have 2 switches to turn on before it would start up. Something that they wont even know its a kill switch. Like say your hazard lights and fog lights would both have to be deactivated for the car to start.

Some alarms come with a code that you have to enter after starting the car! if not it shuts down the car about a block away and disables the fuel and battery and alarm goes off and flashes the hazard lights to get attention! It has happened to me that I forget and the alarm goes off and I am stuck in the middle of traffic!

The best way to protect the Evo from thieves is to not allow it to be available to thieves. Car must be garaged overnight, parked in safe, secure lots or in view when going out or at work. It's good to have a second car to take to the movies, malls, etc w/o worrying about it. I don't think I personally could own my Evo as my only car. I don't have the mental strength to leave it unattended for long peroids of time. I would definitely take the wing off and debadge if I was very worried. Maybe even paint the IC black and put steelies on.

I agree, but painting the IC black maybe taking it a little to far. I will never take my car to the movies or the mall. I use my girl's ride a 1994 Saturn.

Very true, Meeka scares everyone away from our house. German shepherds are very protective of what they consider to be theirs. I dont even bother setting the alarm when I leave her in the car. Too bad I cant take her everywhere I go.
