Noise from rear of car

Today and on another occasion, while standing outside with the car idling, I noticed a high-pitched humming/whining noise coming from the back of the car near the rear tires.

It went away after a couple of minutes but I was wondering if anyone knows what it is. The car doesn't seem to have any problems.

hmmmm some sound happening with my bro's rsx. Although he went to the dealership to get it checked out, he could not induce the sound but on the way home it kept doing it.

Do you have an aftermarket fuel pump? Sounds like that to me...

So it's normal for it to sometimes make more noise than at other times because, like I mentioned, the noise stopped after a couple of minutes?
