Alarm System Install

Has anyone installed their own alarm system in their evo? I just bought a clifford maxtrix rsx 3.5 alarm system and with the help of my friend am planning on installing it this weekend. I also got the service manual for the evo so I know where all the wires are and which ones I'll need to tap into. Anyone have any tips or tricks on doing the install? Or general setting for the install? Thanks

Hope you got a 555u transponder bypass and a spare key or else no remote-start for you. If you do take the proper precautions and install it correctly, it takes an average of 4-6 hours for a professional. keep that in mind and goodluck.

why would you need a spare key for remote start?

have you gone to the hardware store and got a spare key made for an evo yet, if you did and tried to use it, the evo shouldnt have started. Now if some evos arent equipped with immobilizers, then he doesnt have to worry about the problem. The dealer should have informed him if it was present in the car or not when he purchased it.

I installed my own alarm. I never installed one prior to this and I really suck at reading electrical schematics too. Luckily, the wires you need to tap are all listed in the "how-to" alarm install thread. Just do a search for "alarm install" and it should turn up. Wiring up the hood and trunk took up a big chunk of time for me since I was trying to make it look real clean.

Last time i checked, no. If the factory key isnt in the ignition, the computer doesnt get a signal and the fuel pump doesnt activate.

I do not have a 555u transponder bypass and I'm guessing the clifford doesn't come with one, i do however have a spare key, my evo came with two.

Well you'll need to buy one and install the spare key in it like the guy who posted before you stated and just wire it up according to the directions. I will warn you, be carefull, take your time, and if you have trouble, consult a tech from a retail store. Dont call DEI because they wont give you any technical help if your not a retailer. This is not a stereo install but it will not be difficult if your technically inclined. It is very time consuming.

i don't suppose there are any local stores ala best buy type stores that would carry these would they? Maybe a specific car alarm install store, I've found plenty of places online but I do want to this it this weekend.

we sell them where i work. in colorado they're called soundtracks, but everywhere else they're ultimate electronics.

good luck again on the install. the 555u bypass is probably something you can add on later - unless you're looking to pick one up before this weekend. i know we carry them (the 555u) here. if you go to an ultimate, just ask for a car install guy - maybe you can pay for his lunch for that day and get all the info. you want.

p.s. they like donuts too.
