Anyone else...

...Not all that impressed with their EVO? Ive had my '03 EVO for about a month and after the initial newness wore off, I'm left feeling a little deflated. $30k and this is all I got?... I dunno, maybe Im in a bad mood or something. I kind of feel like no matter what I "do to it" it's still a tin can with a turbo. The only people that show any respect for it are 16-18 yr olds driving civics with big stupid wings...

Someone tell me to shut up!

you'll be sorry if you trade for an M3...at least with the evo you actually have a powerband that lasts longer than 4 rpm....besides i had a 323 commuter and that thing was constant trouble...so i traded it for the evo

If you bought the car to get props, you got the wrong car. For the money, you could have gotten a used Porsche, and gotten all the chicks (or something) . . .
The Evo is a streetable track / rally car, depending on how far you want to take it. It's not a luxury cruiser, it's not even a lux sports car like the recent M3s -- if anything, and it’s closer to the original M3s. Nothing wrong with the current M3s, great cars, nice brand name -- just too much luxury for my money. I want as much of my money to go to the performance of the car, not pretty interiors and a nice badge on the hood. That's why I bought the RS.
Sorry you're not too happy with the car, perhaps a bit more consideration before making the purchase would have been good. I'm sure you'll figure out what you like, good luck.

I was wondering if I made a mistake by not buying a Subura STI, so I decided to go test drive one in Ontario. They had one blue one that had 5,000 miles. I know the Evo outperforms the STi, but I have never taken a ride in the Suby. I told the saleman I was in the market to buy either an Evo or STI. He said they don't let people drive them without a credit check and I responded by telling him I already did that w/ mitsu and was not going to lower my credit score. To make a long story short, I was given a ride in the car but was not allowed to drive it. I could feel the softer suspension and did not like the seats compared to ours. After the ride, I am glad I bought my Evo as a car that was built for performance and not looks. Yes, my interior is not as nice as the STI's, but with a few simple mods my car blows away that 300 hp car both on the track and in the quarter mile. Not bad for a car that cost about 5,000 dollars less w/ my current modifications.

the car is purpose built man... the interior is all business where it matters... Recaro seats, chunky Momo steering wheel and shift knob... want a lil' more luxury, opt for the sun/sound/leather option... but that's as good as it gets in the interior... no cruise, no navigation, no digital computer climate control (but you do get a dial for height of the HIDs )... that stuff adds to a differnt driving experience, not to the performance experience... all the money goes to the drive/powertrain, suspension, and body structure...

If you want glamour and glitz, go with an M3 (Leguna Seca blue or Phoenix Yellow in particular )... it's a great car, and, it's quite a Status symbol... but, the Evo is the Anti-Status symbol-Status symbol that few realize what it's worth and all about... even though i must say i get some thumbs up from the Z06 crowd, and lot's of questions...

I agree that the Evo is a purpose built car and is not for the average driver who wants to impress people while sitting still.

Think of it this way, the Evo is a race car that is street legal, and the M3, Boxster etc are street cars that could be raced...

But, at the end of the day, it is very satisfying to put the owners of those cars in their place with a 4 door sedan, espcially with my sleeper Ralliart wing...

What a joke. The car isn't even that fast. Ive owned cars that cost less that outperform the EVO...and not just straight line performance either. Hell, I can build a civic cheaper than $30k that will outperform an EVO.

The interior of the EVO is shoddy at best. 1 year old and the side bolsters on the seat are heavily worn...something under the dash rattles...Ive already had to put a clutch in it (previous owner liked to launch it) the factory stereo sounds like garbage...the factory paint is crummy...the list goes on.

Basically what Im saying is the EVO is NOT worth $30k.

$30,000 buys a lot of car...and the EVO is NOT A LOT of car. Like someone mentioned in another thread...If I weren't upside down on this car, I'd sell it tomorrow.

Basically: The EVO is KING of the RICE.

Evillusion,

You've made your point...it's obvious that you don't like your Evo and regret your purchase. However, you are in the tiny minority...pretty much everyone I have met that owns or has driven an Evo raves about the car. Sure, there are a few things that could have done better, but overall it is a helluva machine. It responds very well to aftermarket modifications as well. For around $2000, you can have 300 AWHP...for about $5000 more, you can have 500 AWHP...and the production cars that can match the Evo's handling can be counted on one hand...and they all cost substantially more than the Evo.

I was starting to get "used to" the performance of my stock Evo...so I added a few bolt-ons, and guess what...it's like a whole new car again...I love my Evo...and I'm just getting started!

Cheers,

Steve

I bought an Evo because i got some experience about little 2.0 4G63 and i work on my car alone. I know how far i can
go without spending big bucks and still have 4 door car AWD 1 car (All season). I dont really care if it rattles or interior is made cheap i knew what iam getting my self into, sometimes i was thinking about getting the Audi S4 - Awesome look but not for my $ to make it fast or easy to fix.

Ill give you the best solution - Sell the evo... get M3 Problem Solved

yeah get a kia...lol do some mods to it. I was bored with the power level of stock, but it was stock for like 2 days. I bought the car knowing i was going to put some cash into it, as thats what makes the car really shine.
