Speeding Tickets - Wing vs. No Wing?
Speeding Tickets - Wing vs. No Wing?
So I got my first speeding ticket last night. The guy was cool enough not to record my "actual speed" on the ticket, but says to me "I had to really move to get you, because I know these all-wheel drive cars are really fast". He was on a bike. At least he knew his cars, and knew exactly what he was going after.
I originally wanted to get the car no wing, but ended up with the CF. I like it, but I'm wondering about the ratio of tickets for wing cars vs. non-wing cars. I bet black steel wheels and a flat trunk deck would make the car much more invisible to the law. In fact, I think that might be my next "mod". I'll just keep the trunk w/wing and wheels for when I sell it.
CF wing cars and owners? More tickets? No wing - less?

I have a RS and think about that issue all the time. I want to get a wing but enjoy the stealth.
How about a invisible Wing! clear plastic with a switch to change the color or glow at night. Possible with fiber optics.
I like the Jap spec RS wing I thing it is all carbon (black) and adjustable.

I bought my silver Evo with the low profile wing just for the reasons you outline. The Evo looks better with the CF wing (IMHO) but I just feel it's a magnet to police agencies.
So no wing, a Valentine One and no tickets (yet!) in eight months of spirited driving.

Just a theory.
I like the idea of the invisible wing though. I want an invisible car. Actually, I want a flying car.
Yes it makes a difference, Cops usually hate ricers and think that only ricers have the wings. If you are the only car or in lite traffic the wing might not make a difference, but in heavy traffic just something different to attract his attention. Its like fish we are the school of fish and the cop is the preditor. He will notice the Yellow or Red Blue all the EVO Fish are Dead first!
I have the CF wing and bought a used small wing. In my area, the local police spot the large wing far down the road and watch me very closely. With the small wing, they barely look. Of course, it helps if your Evo isn't loud, covered with graphics, or going really fast when you pass them
. There is no doubt in my mind the CF wing will out ticket the small one or a wingless Evo. There is no way I'd totally give up the CF wing, even my wife thinks the car looks bad without it.

i also know several cops all who have said they look out for those big wings, its a dead giveaway.
just cruising down the hiway, a little over the give and take, see the police car and back off. Of course by then it is to late but he nabs the guy in front of me, a van with surf boards on the roof. Now either he got crossed up when someone radioed him about a car with a "whales tail" or the fact that I have a white beard saved me.
So there might be something to profiling younger drivers, so all you young guys got one thing to look forward to as you get to old to safely stare at young girls wearing nearly nothing.

I was going over 2x the speed limit last year, and was pulled over by 6 cop cars. My car has a CF wing, and I was VERY fortunate and got off with only a verbal warning.
I think there are more factors in whether you get a ticket or not than how your car looks.

Don't get me wrong - the ticket was no one's fault but my own. I was lucky he didn't really fry me. He wrote "80" on the ticket, which will save me quite a bit of money.
I was just curious if wing or no wing brought more tickets. I'm sure everybody here drives their cars as they were made to be driven.
