my best friend just moved back to taiwan to work for the family business. he had to sell his e46 m3 after having it for only 9months. he wants to get a car in taiwan but says everything is way overpriced and most dealers dont even offer manual transmissions.
btw he goes on quite a few street races with some locals in taiwan. tells me they'd begin in taichung and end up near taipei. race on highways, local roads and mountain passes. he also said that people can obtain the police speed trap map and time tables and since there are no patrol cars, the streets are pretty much yours for the taking.

i dont know about the " NO Patrol Cars"
I saw plenty of patrol cars while i was there. But funny thing is they run around with the Blue and Red Lights on all the time.

If you tink cars in taiwan are expensive, you haven't been to Singapore!!

The new Evolution MRs cost abt US$91-92k!!! I KID YE NOT!!

That's like the price of some 911s in the US already, I think. SAD BUT TRUE! Converting it to Aussie/NZ dollars might get you the price of a BMW M3.

Can you find out where I might be able to obtain the police speed trap maps? Thanks

Taipei, TW. I'm from Taiwan and traffic there is just nuts, but if you love you're car than i guess it doesn't matter. You gotta go up in the mountains and take those bends! Every time i'm in Taiwan i always wish i had my car when we were driving in the mountains. Also gas is better in Taiwan, but more $$! Taiwan's got 93, 95, & 98 Octane which means better performance but since it's always hot especially in Taipei because of the congestion and so forth i wonder how your engine will hold up because it's soo damn hot! One day you should just do a road trip to Koashioung or Chia-Yi or Pu-Li wherever i don't know i'm just naming cities, but if you get to a rurul area give it gas and let it fly! One thing you should get is a blow off valve because you live in taipei! Every time you shift you can freak people out plus they sound so much cooler in the city because it echo's! Well i hope to see your evo when i'm in Taiwan next time because if i do we can go to one my factories and do some mad drifts in the parking lot! By the way, not to sound weird or nothing but how old are you? I'm 18, and you seem like you're with your parents so idk if you're around my age because i think it'd be cool to know someone around my age with an Evo in Taiwan. OH yea and isn't the driving age in Taiwan 18? So that means you gotta be older than that! Well i'm done for now, but let us know when you get some upgrades!

Im keeping my car stock for now, not planning to mod anytime soon. Like the way it sounds stock just idling when I am standing outside... Wouldnt mind meeting some friends who are from the states but I am much older than you think I am. My friends dad ownes a golf course in Yangshun near Taoyan. I believe he has alot of flat land to do crazy stuff BTW I wish I was 18, im much older than you think I am. If you read my post earlier you will know I was 24 when I lived in LA But I still act like a 16 year old

Taipei was awesome when I visited last summer. I wouldn't mind living there for the rest of my life if I had a huge bank saving. The women...wow, all the chicks that work at the malls look so exotic. I never even knew Taiwanese were so good looking until I got there.

Hopefully the next time I visit the highspeed rail will be finished so I can go from the north to south tip of Taiwan in 1.5 hours.

I saw a few ferraris and lotus around Taipei. Never seen an EVO 8. Subaru taxis were fun there.

What company does your parents run? My dad's best friend is like an uncle of mines. He is President of Entie Commercial Banks in Taiwan. You have any relations?

No relations but anyone that is a president of a bank is dam rich. I will still choose to live in the states if it was me. Nothing beats the lifestyle and culture in the US. I like Taiwan but its not all that good to live here for a long time, coming here for a vacation is all good but living here for a long period of time is not my thing. Its fun to go clubbing, singing and theres good food and all but after awhile it gets boring and the traffic and pullution sucks. All my friend who moved back from the states to work for their parents company still prefer the US. Maybe its because we all grew up in the US. I guess it depends on where you live in the US. For me Los Angeles is the place to be, especially Santa Monica

Hum, I didn't know they sold evos there. When I went back to visit my parents 5 years ago I didn't see any evo, just mirage with evo kits.

When I told her I had an EVO 8 she was completely amazed. Almost like it was a Ferrari or Lamborghini. So congrats on the purchase. The traffic is crazy though. I'd be worried non-stop about parking or driving my evo through the crowded streets. You and I both know they are some crazy drivers in Taiwan.
I think I could definitly live in Taiwan. Only thing tough for me was the exotic foods.
Hot girls Sorry I haven't seen that many there at all. At least they don't look hot to me (my asian slant eyes point of view ).

Back then when I cam here in 92 there were not that many hot girls because they didnt know what was up on the dress code. But now there are so many hot chicks at the clubs because now they are into the western image. You will be surprised at how they look and move at the clubs. Hiphop is very in so you see girls wearing very skanky outfits which is all good! Back then 10 years ago when I was here they looked at me funny because I was wearing very baggy pants but now its a IN thing.
