My Evo 8 in Taiwan!
My Evo 8 in Taiwan!
Freaking about time I got my car! In April 2004 Mitsubishi only imported sixty Evo 8's in into this county and I am one of the lucky ones to grab it before its all sold. Besides mine there was only 1 black one left. They are 2004 models and mine came with the rear door sticker to prevent the paint from chipping
built April 2004. Grabs as much attention when I had my F355 Spider back in Los Angeles. But the only thing that sucked is this car cost me 53K US$. Not alot people wanted this car mainly due to the price, everyone told me to get the Subaru STI which is about 9k cheaper(256hp version)...I aint going out like that!!!...Subarus are like a dime a dozen...Way too many..especially the older models... I always loved the Evo so it was worth the extra $$$
My manual is in Chinese so I cant read jack, so need to ask some questions.
1.Should I leave my turbo spray on manual or auto?
2.Keep it under 5k rpm until 1000 miles?
Glad to be part of this forum, been reading this forum for quite some time now.

That looks like a U.S spec evo. Am I correct? Yea, keep her under 5K for at least for the first 1K miles. It sucks...!!! The IC sprayer can be kept on or off. It's depending on how hard you drive the car. I usually toggle it on when it's freaking hot out or when I wanted to drive it hard.
By the way, what in the world are you doing in taiwan? And are your chinese? Keep us updated. Guess you are not going to mode this thing anytime soon. hahahhah...Woah!!! this post make me like my evo alittle bit more!!!

Im here because I work for my parents, thats the only reason why I am here but I still prefer the US. Grew up there and all my friends are there as well. But anyways yes its the US spec Evo. Cars here are are almost double the price....the E46 M3 will run you about 110K US$, just giving you an idea how much the tax is here. Not planning to mod it anytime soon unless I get bored with it one day.

Or who ever told you that is...must be something wrong or a used one....no way its that cheap.BTW Im learning Chinese right now so it doesnt matter...The company will be mine one day so even if I cant read I can always hire a secretary to translate
haha..I dont mind too since I dont have to do much work except just manage the employees.
BTW do you live in Taipei?
i just got back from TW 2 days ago for 2 monthes. they held a big event at TIS where the owners met up and Mitbushibi invited this Japanese professional driver showing them how the EVO is supposed to be driven and taken care of. i wish i had mine with me. i believe they cost around NT186 million.
Break-in: I was a little extreme with mine. My MR is 2+ months old now and for the first 1000 km (620 miles) I was under 3000 rpm. 1001 km - 1500 km @ 3500 rpm, with the occasional zing to 4000 rpm. Keep increasing in in blocks of 500 km / 310 miles all the way to 5000 km / 3107 miles.
Oh, and on cost I got mine for SGD$155,000 which is approximately USD$90k. We have a hefty tax on cars here in Singapore.
