Evo Stolen

Immobilizer initialization = Has to have a key near the ignition. Once initialized, it no longer has to have that input. It's a one-shot flip flop circuit and at this point is toggled on.
A ground sense on the line will initialize the Immobilizer circuitry. This is why you can defeat the Immobilizer by grounding the black wire.
Sorry for the thread hijack.
I hate when low life losers jack what other people worked hard for that pisses me off I feel your pain bro Ive had my stuff jacked more than once out of my car (I wish they took the time to do it nicelike stead of using crowbars and wire cutters) anyway good luck finding what you need to fix it all.
sorry to hear the bad news my car was broken into three times in less then 9 months, twos times they broken the ignition but nothing they tried pushing it with another car once. Its a headache, good luck

UM, WRONG. You don't need to scrap your spare key to run a TT. A million people on here, me included, have run a TT without using the key.
So, youre reason for believing a TT is bad is based on completely unsound reasoning / facts.
Wow! everybody has their different opinion about the immobilizer function. It works in conjuction with the ECU! Ever tried to swap ECU with anothe evo?? The car would not start. Even with the other car's key near your ignition. So, before you go buy somebody's flashed ecu, you have to remember that you would have to 1st match the frequency of the new key to yours.

It seems everyone is unaware of the immobilizer and how it works I also might be but thought I would share what I was told that there is a small dot on the key which is set to your car and the Ecu and a seperate Immobilizer Ecu. When you go to start the car I was told it has a little laser ot light or something that looks at the circular indention in the key and if it matches the car will start.
I could be wrong but I think we need to ask someone at Mitsubishi to find out for sure.
Bottom line sorry they got your Evo man that sucks hope you can get it back on the road soon.

The keys have a chip in them. You can get a blank key from Mitsu, have it cut to match your key, and then program the chip via the instructions in your owner's manual. It isn't etching or an indentation. It's a proximitry pass chip, much like a swipe card used at many office buildings and apartment complexes.
The car ended up in the Bronx
I'm sorry. I couldn't help it.
When I was in high school around 98, my car was stolen.
I had 3 JL W6's
3 kicker 240's
1 kicker 460
Image dynamics Pro compression horn drivers
2 Audio control EQT's
Audio control 2XS and a 3XS
In dash Pioneer EQ
Alpine CDA 7949
And all my cd's
All gone.
My insurance wouldn't offer me full coverage because the car was too old. It was an 84.
When they found the car 2 weeks later and I had to pay to take it out of impound.
I couldn't even sit in it. I felt like my cars butt hole had been violated, and the inside smelt like dirty ***.
I hope something really bad happens to the people who took your car.
I don't believe in anything. Not ghosts, or god or even Easter bunnies, but I do believe in Karma and I've seen it, and I my self am a vengeful bastard.

Some guys who steal cars for a living are just out there to steal certain things. When my civic was stolen, they only stole what they wanted/needed. I had a set of PIAA fog lights and just stole the $2.00 toggle switch. As for the Immobilizer, I have to do some testing. like getting a spare key made and let the timer count down and before it times out, use the spare key and see if the car will stay on.

Wow. They probably are figuring oiut how to bypass the security. Best to use more measures. The autolock seems one of the better choices. Thats one thing I jhate about electronics. As soon as it comes out someone finds a hack. They most likely hotwired the car
and stole thing they knew how to aleady get. Maybe thought the harnesses needed some tools they did not have. Damn crooks. May they die with no teeth and alzheimer's wearing depends.

High tech never seems to be the solution, because the criminals today always seem to be a step ahead. Hell, even look at radar detectors. Before the police can even implement the latest and greatest radar and speed measuring equipment, companies already have deterents on the market.
I think the best defense is going to be something low-tech. Something that is actually going to make the crooks use their brains to figure out.....When you have to park in a suspected high risk area, do things like disconnect your throttle cable down at the accelerator pedal, pull the fuel pump or starter fuse, etc. I know this might be a pain, but it might just be the trick to keep your car in the same place as you left it. Of course, hindsight is always 20/20 and these solutions still won't keep them from wrecking your car to get inside of it and attempting to get it started. At least it will make them spend more time at the crime scene so that they run a greater risk of getting caught.
