comeon guys, you should all know that by now!

would have only made the pedal go down half way
hrm, sounds like one of those sneaky road hazards where a pipe wrench falls off the back of a semi-truck and mysteriously creeps up underneath your bumper and around all the shroud guard protecting the radiator and engine from occurances such as this. puzzled I am..
NOPE! Sounds like normal wear and tear to me from those neons you installed under the seats.. it definetly caused it to happen, I've seen it before.

What's even more criminal is how the repair bill got anywhere near $1400. Swapping the radiator and fan takes all of an hour of labor. I know for a fact that a Koyo replacment radiator is $220. What the hell else was broken?
That's crazy. Same thing happened to me last month. The fan blades started flying off at idle. Put a nice slice in the radiator. I bought a Koyo factory replacement from radiators.com for $199 shipped (overnight). Paid $70 for a new low profile fan. Installation took about 1/2 hour.
Heres a weird one - I kept hearing this terrible plastic noise the last week or so when my pusher fan came on (not the one in the engine bay) - I checked it out - looked fine, nothing was in its way. Well I took it off the other day because the noise was getting really annouying and as soon as I pull the assembly out the actual fan just fell right out of the shroud... I was like wtf is that!!! So I take a look... the bolt that holds the plastic fan on the motor and in the shroud actually sheared right off - so the fan was still spinning but rubbing up against the AC condensor/radiator. Luckily, it had no where to go since it was caged in by the assembly. I looked up what it cost for a new one $286... YEAAAAAAAH RIGHT.. I just didnt put it back in and I dont even have a CEL!

So it's really not too suprising that they would initally try to deny the warranty. Is it right no, but thats the way it is.

Boooohoooooooooooo poor dealership. So they only get to charge 100% their cost on the part. And only $42/hour on labor. When they only pay their mechanics no more than $20/hour. What about the car owner's time wasted because the manufacturer didn't fully test something and is wasting the car owner's time to iron out the bugs. How much extra money over msrp did they make on selling evo's. Some dealerships were asking $5000 over msrp. That's roughly an extra $10000 they made on the car. We all believe they can take a little tiny hit for doing warranty work.
Everytime I have something go wrong with my car, I post it on the NHSA website. Everyone else should too. Thay way if 1000 people report a bad fan bracket, nhsa will investigate and send a recall notice to all owners to come in to have it fixed. So that you don't have to spend an extra 4 hours because the fan went through the radiator.
I briefly read through this and please correct me if I am wrong but was this fan problem not done under recall. I had to bring my car in for the electric fan recall. Was this part of it. Or is this a different issue? I could be wrong.
the recall was on an radiator fan controler, i had mine done 2 ago, it shouldnt have anything to do with this, it just controls if the fan works or doesnt and not whether the fan blades bend and snap at full throttle which happened in my case.... i just spoke with a mitsubishi div manager, about as high as you could go and he is very professional, no progress as of yet but very decent person.
