Mine is a pain, too. Maybe it's just a thing with manual temp controls. I had 2 different Hondas with the manual temp control and they were the same way....extremely stiff to turn. I actually ended up breaking a piece on the knob a few times on my Accord and had to keep replacing the knob portion if I wanted to be able to change it from hot to cold and vise versa. So far the Evo knob has held up but I don't know for how long.

Yeah i have the exact same thing in my evo , but if u go back and forth really fast it loosens it up for a bit , its kinda a fun game. Its not worth fixing , its just there like that!

my temp know started sticking in the middle since months of ownership. I have an 03. It would be great if someone posted the TSB for it to take in with the car.

i dont know about gears, but there is a lever under the steering column to the left of the radio which i just move back and forth, this moves the knob for me and is a pretty quick fix..

if u take the whole mechanism out yourself and just clean it off with some of that compressed air in a can and lube the gears up a bit it seems to work just fine, i bought another off a member on here cuz i didnt know it was that easy to fix, until i did a buddies of mine and problem disappeared!

I think it's a ridiculous amount and I'm not sure it's a legit "fix" cause I think they just put the same parts back in.

The complete tsb includes a new air blend door, different control levers on the outside of the heater box and a filter placed in the air intake.

For labor figure 8 hours times whatever they charge locally plus maybe $200 in parts and shop materials.
