Exedy Twin, Hard to get in gear, Loud Humming, and very sticky.

Well i love my Exedy Twin Clutch, its great. took a little while to get broken in and still often at stop lights, it doesnt want to go into first. I pump the clutch twice and no problems. Im thinking i may just have a small pocket of air in the clutch line. Otherwise everything else is smooth as can be. Great shifts, no notchiness. On the other hand my Exedy makes loud humming noises, esp when downshifting. Has anyone had any issues like this as well. I know the clutch allows for a lot more drivetrain noise, but a louuudd humm when letting off the clutch or down shifiting is annoying..

Maybe you should try bleeding the clutch line to see if the problem still persists.

You need to adjust the clutch pedal. There is a bolt controlling travel on the cable on the clutch pedal.

How much of an increase is there in pedal effort in the Exedy versus the stock clutch? I drive mine through traffic constantly, so I wanted to know what I would be getting myself into.

My Cuscos pedal pressure seems less than stock to me or maybe I am just used to it. Az3ar will see you at the 1320 soon I take it. No more clutch crutch so the bench racing is over and we will see what the 3071 can do.

No problem buddy. Exedy twin has 38 LBS and stock is 28LBS. IE you are a big guy you just got used to it. What about fontana race way?

I got a OS Twin plate..
and It's freaken loud..
And I got the same problem sometimes it just won't go into first at low speed.. so I just give it a little gas and it goes in smoothly.. I was told if I got a SS it would help a lot.. so I been trying to get one lately but Vendor problems.. Hehehe

Well i have the Clutch Rod Peg, to help Disengagement, I have adjusted the Pedal as well to also help with disengagement, But stil get locked out of first unless i apply a lot od force, or throw it into 3rd first, or pump the clutch and give a little rev.. Im assuming its a small air bubble. Otherwise the clutch works great, It humms soo loud people look at me and think my car is broken, kinda the same way with my racing pads which squeal.. people think ur brakes are shot.. I have to say.. Its all performance thats why it makes those noises, and people give me funny looks.. Ohh well... Im gonna goto mitsu and have it bled. They just did it when the clutch went in, so im assuming they wont charge me since its a few weeks old.

Exedy is no different feel when driving than stock. very easy.. engages fully right at the very end, but if u let the pedal drop, it grabs like a **** . I wont do any street drops, only in sand or slippery conditions, i just feel like it would rip my tranny apart dropping it with my 255/40's kuhmos to sticky..something is bound to break..

I'm told it is normal. I get the same noise occasionally on a normal street start and down shifting. It's a humming/brake squeek type noise.

I have no issues with putting it into 1st gear. My complaint is that it is more chattery off the line and difficult to come off the line smooth.

Totally agree with you there, i had a lot of issues coming off the line with mine when i first got it, and the chattering scared me too. i love the clutch now, i think i ll love it even more in a few days when i get the car back from the shop with the new shep tranny
