Are there any previous S4 owners around here?

S4 vs Evo

I was all set to buy a used S4 last year until I realized that it costs about the same as a new Evo. The S4 was my favorite car from when it was introduced until last year.

One downside to the S4 (at least here in Chicago) is that a TON of women drive them. I'd say that 40-50% of the people I see driving an S4 are women. The last thing I want to hear when somebody sees my car is, "My girlfriend has one of those". Same with the Z car for that matter. No chick cars for me!

WOW nice to see so many S4 feedbacks. Im glad to see that all the previous S4 owners enjoy their EVO. I've seen most of you guys on either audiworld and audizine. Audi online has a really great community, you learn a lot of these guys.

My question to you guys who owns the EVO is: Is the EVO your only car or do you have more than one car?

As you guys can see in my sig im going to bed looking for a new car this winter/spring since my RSX goes off lease in December. I would love either an '05 Evo VIII (S&S&L), or a Certified S4. They are about the same price, tho the Evo can be haggled for less. Actually the sad this is that the monthly payments to buy an '02 Cert S4 are the same as leasing a brand new '05 S4 for 42months. Its definetly a dilemma. Evo is an amazing sports car, S4 is a sweet sport cruiser. S4 is definetly a chick magnet, Evo is a cop magnet. S4 is luxury, Evo is raw. I still want them both hahah, but i gotta pick one.
Hey man, if you think you will have trouble or bearly making payment for the S4 then I would skip it. Coming from a personal experience, all the work that was done on my car was covered under audi assure ($50 deductable). Once my warranty runs out, its all going to fall in my wallet. My car is running strong and I dont anticipate for my turbos to blow anytime soon. How do I know... because I take care of it and after installing a boost gauge I notice I rarely go on boost driving around town.

Email me or PM me if you have any questions.

just a random thought... a brand new turbo S4 was roughly $46,000 right? not to mention it is twin turbo, 6 cylinder

I'd say that the A4 1.8T quattros is a better comparison with evo's.... awd, 4dr, 4 cylinder, single turbo, around $30,000...

Actually the S4 MSRP was like $38k

A4 1.8.T is more like a Lancer ES performance comparsion

oh hehe yea I forgot that it was the crazy markup that pushed the s4's price to over $40,000...

the comment regarding a4 1.8t's performance in comparison with the Lancer ES... lol sad but somewhat true... I used to have a 1.8T jetta and i think that engine is better suited in non awd vehicles ... although back in 1999/2000 there were some pretty tight touring a4 1.8T's

once again, too bad we dont get to drive all the cars here in america... there are tons of 6 cylinder twin turbo awd vehicles that'll embarass the s4... nissan skyline (R32 or R33) being one of them hehe

Hey, the new subaru legacy is pretty damn nice too... the interior is actually up to par with some european cars... im sure it'll be a cool sleeper

That's the LAW.

That makes me feel like I'm on "Hunter".
