Putting another 1000 miles on your engine isn't going to add power. Burn a few tanks of 94 after an ECU reset and it should pull hard all the way to 7500. If it doesn't get a boost gauge and verify proper boost.

if i had a supra, i woudn't buy an evo.... esp an RS...
it's kinda like having a Ferrari and a Lamborghini then deciding which one you'd drive today...

got pics on your supra!?!??

i'm totally sold on a supra (even though i don't like toyota)... i'd rather one over a r32/33/34 gt-r/s ,evo mr/rs , 350z/300z, rx-7/8, s2k , nsx type r/s .....

When i got my EVO8 the dealership told me to put on atleast 1,000 miles before I break 4,000 RPM's. I would have waited more than 200-250 miles to hit 6-7,000 RPM's. I couldn't wait to get my EVO broke in, so I drove to Portland, OR. from Tacoma, WA. About 700 mile round trip on a saturday.

14.5 i think there was something wrong with the driver who tested the RS - so maybe people buy VW r32's instead of evo's MAVERICKVIII: i had the same problem i waited and waited just to pass that 800 mile mark...whohhh

I bet you STOCK IC PIPES are LEAKING, mine did, everyones did. I only hit 16PSI, thats it and it fell to 15 or 14 after that. I Picked up a 10MM socket wrench, tightend up ALL my IC Clamps, WHAM 20 PSI holding 17PSI, car woke up.

My suggestion? Disconnect your battery, tighten your IC clamps.

Thanks for all the responses guys. I'm happy to report that after going through another tank of gas and then filling her up with 93, she's now runnin fan****!ntastic. I also put on the Buschur 3" turboback exhaust that a fellow forum member sold me. Seems to have made a noticeable difference, but who knows, it could just be psychological because of the sound. I did pull on a friend's yellow Evo which not only has the turboback, but an HKS intake as well. Also did a top end run and hit an indicated 155mph no problem.

Whoever wanted to see pics of my Supra... Send me a PM or hit me up on AIM...

Changed, seems like your attitude is changing. I mean if you are serious about stripping the weight to 2700-2800Lbs and a potential turbo upgrade. 2700-2800Lbs, 450WHP+, and AWD equals 10s at the drag strip for sure. Make sure you work on your launches though. Keep everybody updated on your progress, I would love to see all the stuff you have to remove to shed another 300Lbs or so.

LOL, I was pissed because the car was hesitating in the high RPMs and running like total ****. If you read my post pertaining to the Autoweek article, you'd see that I said you can't trust anything published in magazines these days. Still, there is always a chance that you get a poorly running car from the factory. My old 03 Cobra was off 50whp from other people on the forums. It wound up being the factory software which made it run so rich that it went off the chart at 3,000 rpms and never returned!

I just hate the thought of starting off with a car that's slower than others stock for stock. It's important for a car to run right stock, otherwise modding it can "compensate" for the problem and you'll never even know it. I'm sorry you're disappointed with my attitude, but quite frankly I could give two *****.

They should not let you edit your post like that.

Of course I'm serious about removing weight. I got my S4 down to 3200 from 3650 and I didn't even finish half of the weight reduction mods I had planned. Had I done everything I was planning, I would have seen 2900-2950 easily. The RS should be cake to get down to 2800. Here's what I've done so far:

spare/board/tools - 41
buschur exhaust - 31

Here's what's next (some of which I'm doing this weekend)

a/c - 40
passenger seat - 33
front & rear bumper beams - 30
rear seats - 24
kosei wheels - 20
lightweight battery - 20
washer fluid - 8
floor mats - 5
emissions crap - 5
Cusco strut tower bar - 4

That should get it down to right about 2800.

Update: The dealer finally called me back and told me that "back in August" the car was filled up with regular gas! I guess that explains everything. I'm glad I didn't answer my phone, because now I proof of the dealer screwing up on my voicemail in the event any engine problems arise later. I'm sure all will be fine though... Afterall, that's what the knock sensor is there for.

Don't worry, I plan on doing both actually. I've been to driving schools at Lime Rock and Summit Point. The old man's actually ran the One Lap of America, finishing 4th place overall in 1997 in a '67 Plymouth Valiant. So I guess you could say it's in my blood.

Same thing happened to my 03 Cobra. Bought that thing brand new and dynoed it immediately... Thing only put down like 310whp when everyone else on the forums was putting down 370-380. LOL. That only turned out being a software/tuning issue. Let's hope that's the same with this RS...
I suggest you run, not walk to the nearest AWD dyno in your area and get a base line done after you have the car broken in. I'd suggest Dyno4mance in Calhoun Georgia.
Anyway, have a complete baseline done with all the datalogging possible. Be sure to get the A/Fs. the timing, knock, and everything else you can think of. I know it's expensive but it'll save you tons of money and heartache in the end.
If the car does not put out the advertised HP or if there is some problem, you can make them buy it back or take care of it now. I can tell you from my own sorry experience that some EVOs just are not right. You prolly have one of those and the quicker you can make them take it back or fix it under warranty, the better off you'll be.

Good luck
