Bought the RS and the new Autoweek article... NOT happy!
Well i disagree with the brake in period. It is now a proven fact that you need about 20 miles on a new engine to get everything broke in. After that you run it hard to 100 miles. Then change the oil. More and more people are finding out that by doing this your engine will make more power down the road then babying the car for 1000 miles. I just rebuilt a evo engine and will be doing the 20 miles thing not going above 5K then doing the 100 mile thing bringing it up to 5K every time. THen changing the oil and running it to redline. After the 20 miles you have to turn the car off and let it cool completly before going at it agian.

Did anyone actually read the article? One thing explains it all. On page 17. "Shifting at 6000rpm instead of 7000 did not decrease our quarter mile speed and time." - Mark Vaughn screwed up big time. Either this RS was very broken, if it wasn't pulling past 5500rpm, and shouldn't have been compared or it should have been given full throttle from 5500rpm - 7000+ rpm. Something should have clued them in that maybe this car was not operating at 100%, or the driver wasn't. less weight, more power, hmmm?
My current Evo is a '05 Evo 8 imported from LA, I noticed something - it looses about 15-30 hp if you baby it too long. So when you go WOT through 2nd to 4th - you feel when you get into 4th that it starts to make more boost! Should try to check the system for boost leak! Maybe a common problem?
Even if they had a completely sh!tty launch, it should still trap higher than 91. Trust me, there's something wrong with my RS and maybe theirs had the same problem. Sucks. Same thing happened to my 03 Cobra. Bought that thing brand new and dynoed it immediately... Thing only put down like 310whp when everyone else on the forums was putting down 370-380. LOL. That only turned out being a software/tuning issue. Let's hope that's the same with this RS...

The Evo's exhaust keeps it from having the same power after 6000 rpm - nothing wrong with that!

So they asked them to do it... If the president can do it, why not ?
