Angry Trouble with raising my head lights...

Well I tried rasing my head lights today since after lowering my car my head lights are dipped too low for me to see well ... I did it according to the thread I read: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...t=45685&page=3

At first I did the passenger side one and everything was fine ... the head lights raised as it should and I used a 10mm socket drive just to be safe on stripping that ****ing plastic gear ....

Well then I did the driver side and it didn't work out as I wanted it to... I started cranking it a couple of times and nothing happen ... then I used a flash light and realized the plastic nut was already stripped ... so theres nothing i can do about it right now ... and I went back to the passenger side to attempt to lower it back ... and that one stripped as well ... So Im now stuck with one light slightly higher up then the other ...

Well since both plastic nuts and stripped ... whats the best way for me to fix this problem ... I am ****ing pissed that this happened ... pls help me ... I need to fix it asap without paying my dealership mo money ...

Thanks guys ...

yea I'm not goina touch em because everyone says the passenger side works, the driver side doesn't. Then they strip the gears trying.

I stripped mine while adjusting. It really doen't matter once you get the headlights adjusted. Did you read my post on the long thread? It's on page 6, see if it helps...

You can use a flathead screw driver to inch it along as you spin the 10mm bolt. It will take a long time and require some patience, but it can be done. And the results are WELL worth it.

Bolsen - now that you know they can strip just do it VERY slowly in the beginning making sure both gears spin. Luckily I read ahead and knew about that so that's how I did it. Just light, increasing pressure until they slowly begin to turn. You have to kind of break them loose cuz mine had lots of grease and crud in there. Also, make sure you have a thin walled 10mm socket (I had to go buy another one cuz my 10mm was too fat to clear the plastic gear).

Well to my understanding after studying the mechanism ... it seems like the plastic gear is the one we want to turn in order to adjust the head lights ? is that true?

i used the 10mm bolt when i did mine and both sides worked fine.
when i first looked at it i thought you had to turn that little plastic
hex shaft(4mm?) but the 10mm bolt is the one you want.

good luck

You want to have both things turn, the 10mm bolt and the plastic gear, as that's how you raise or lower all 3 lights together.

right. but what i meant was that turning the bolt also turns the slotted cup thing
that's underneath the bolt and those slots turn the other gear that moves the rest of the lights.

i'm sure as i read this it makes absolutely no sense whatsoever
