Disable A/C on with Defrost?

Greetings all,

Does anyone know how to prevent the A/C from coming on when in Defrost mode?

Thanks for any input.

I dont think he has it on. My Evo also does it when I turn on my rear defroster seems like it turns on the compressor to my A/C.

the defrosters are supposed to run the air over the AC compressor to help dry the air and defog the windows faster. You can speed up the process slightly if you turn the AC on with the defroster on. You'd have to disable the AC compressor to stop the defroster from using the pump.... at least I don't think there's another way to make it not use the AC.

That sucks. On my old Neon it was a very simple process to permanently disable this "feature."

Thanks.

I'm not 100% sure, but that's what I've been told. How did you disable it on the neon?

In the HVAC panel there was a connection made when you turned the knob to Defrost mode. All you had to do was prevent that connection (basically cut a trace on the board) from being made and the air flowed like it should in Defrost mode but the AC didnt kick in. It was much easier than it sounds...

Thanks.
