any headunit will work that has auxiliary input, stock headunit won't work. Alpine is best, they have the extra converter that lets you control the ipod via the headunit.

The only possible way you can do it on the Evo with the factory head unit is with a FM modulator. I dont even know if you can buy them. My buddy uses one in his VW that he made himself. I wouldnt even bother though, its sounds like crab.

Drop the cash on the Alpine HU and you'll be good to go with sweet sounds.

Blitzsafe makes adapters for the VW. One connects to the head unit nad the other can connect through the cd changer in the trunk. I have used the one in the trunk and it works great.

I've tried just about every fm transmitter, and all of them sucked until the Roadtrip came out. It transmits the signal through the 12v line on a fixed frequency, but it's so powerful that it doesn't matter if there's a radio station broadcasting on that frequency; it's still crystal-clear.

The Alpine adaptor only works with the G3 Ipods, any older or newer and it won't even charge it, just a heads up since I have the link thing and my buddy has a G4 Ipod. Your best bet is to just get an aux input set up, that's what he did in his car and it works great.

If this thing actually works i would jump on it.. put it does sound funny how it transfers the signal through a 12v line, to me it sounds like its going to screw something up, blow the cig lighter fuse or screw up any other signal through the vehical interior harness.. anybody else got an opinion?

That is totally false i have just called Alpine they said it works w/ all Ipods and Ipod Minis....you just need to have THE LATEST software on your ipod....

I'm not an EE, but from what I understand it doesn't matter since you're not dumping any power into it, just the signal. You're going to have noise on that frequency anyway... background noise from everything, this just puts an order to it.

For what it's worth, I've been using it with no adverse affects noted for a few months now.

This is a great resource on the subject. Based on this post, I am hoping there is an adaptor that fits the plug on the factory HU, but I have never found anything specific.

I bought a INLINE Fm modulator... it works great, crystal clear... you can get it at Circuit City ... just dont buy a "wireless" fm modulator.. those will sound like crap and get interference...
