I hope this is not a stupid question. but anyways i have my hallman hooked up with the boost source to the DV, and i just purchased a forge motorsport adjustable wastegate actuator. The directions for the actuator state "do not hook the actuator to a vacuum source. The valve should only see 0 to positive pressure". Does the hallman allow vacuum to flow through it and apply a negative pressure on the diaphragm of the actuator.

thanks for the help in advance

(Correction on component naming)

Thanks for the detailed work. This is a great write up, but at the risk of sounding ****, I think there are a few corrections that could be made since a few guys are referring to a part that the drawing and pictures mis-lable.

1. The item labled Waste Gate Actuator (with the 2 caps) is actually the Electronic Boost Control Solenoid. (might not be the Mitsy name, but it's a common name for it)

2. The item labled simply Waste Gate (at least in a stock set up) is the Waste Gate Actuator.

I was just going to PM the originator, but his account shows disabled, so I felt it was reasonable to post here in case it confused anyone who might use the how-to.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead but I recently did this and have some thoughts. I gave up trying to control boost with the stock BCS for now. Prior to the MBC, I used an XEDE and later ECUFlash and could never tame the spikes enough to have confidence to work toward a more aggressive tune. The Hallman Pro RX tamed the spikes and gives me a much more consistent boost level (half a psi plus or minus day to day versus plus or minus two psi with the OEM BCS running the show.)

Since this is for the Pro RX model, I would add to the install that you don't use the lighter spring. If you do, you will generate at best 17psi turned all the way in. Use the stiffer spring only in the MBC. With the ceramic ball and stiffer spring, a half turn = 1 psi, approximately (YMMV!! Test first!!), so it will still use a lot of the travel to get to 21psi or whatever your target is. With the MBC all the way out you will have 11psi. Drive your car like this, it's pretty fun(ny). When you start dialing it closer to 17psi, you'll remember why you bought this car.

Also, the emphasis on getting more hose before the install can't be overstressed. I was about 8" too short of a perfect sano install at the airbox mounting bolt. Curses. I still haven't moved it from its 'temporary' position at the radiator mount. I haven't been in an Autozone or the right frame of mind since.

Finally, not sure the ceramic ball is worth the extra $30 versus the non-RX since the light spring is going in the garbage.

depends how much boost you are going to run, heavier is for when you cant turn it up on the soft anymore to achieve the boost you want
