Performance orientated battery relocation, amplifier and subwoofer install
Performance orientated battery relocation, amplifier and subwoofer install
I bought a Taylor aluminum relocation battery box for my EVO IX. I'm debating where to mount the battery box.
I also have a 3 channel amplifier and 12" subwoofer that I want to install in the trunk.
I'm looking to mount everything as low as possible to not upset the center of gravity. I will post pics of what I'm trying to do.
I prefer to mount the battery box in between the rear strut towers or on the drivers side on the flat parcel of the trunk near the rear light housing. I have to drill 2 holes to mount the battery box so I only want to do this once.
On the cars with the SSL package, does the Infinity subwoofer interfere with installing a rear strut bar?
The lower I mount the heavy battery and subwoofer the better off I am. I took the spare out of the trunk. I would like to retain some room in the trunk to be able to carry some stuff.
I've done a search and seen the various places people have placed the battery box. But nobody has installed an amplifer and subwoofer also. I spend a lot of time in my car and would like to have something a little nice to listen to then whats stock.
I will take some pics to explain what I'm trying to do. Help/recommend some ideas.

I think I have made a decision. I have been reluctant to drill into the trunk of my new car so I pulled the spare tire. The spare tire already had a mount. I was going to use that threaded mount (M10 x 1.25) as one of the battery tie downs. Here's a bad picture of what I'm doing:

I want to mount the amp in front of this battery box. I will probably make some custom brackets to keep it from sliding around. Then I will get a thin sheet of wood and cut it as the same shape as the stock parcel. Except I will cut out a hole so the top of the battery box can come thru. The amp will be under the new parcel and I will make a new sub box to go between the 2 rear strut mounts. I will make it so I can add a rear strut bar later.
I'm having trouble finding a M10 x 1.25 threaded rod 16-18" in length.
