'06 RS low beam upgrade headache......

I was attempting to install some Sylvania Silverstar replacement bulbs in my "06 RS.
No biggie, right?
Holy headlight headache!
I found the post from "kdogg" and after reading the very nicely photographed and documented post, I deceided to take my car to the dealer to have it done.
The Service writer says "no problem" cost? about 50$.
So I agreed and was told to come back in an hour.
Guess what?
I came back in an hour and was told they couldnt do it for 50$.
It would be about 250$
So my question is:
Is the process the same as "kdoggs" '04 for the '06?
Or?
instead of going through with all the hassle for a pair of "a little better than stock halogens"? and just get the HID conversions.

Can they really design a car that takes three hours of labor to change a headlight bulb and get away with it??
Are there any cars out there that take LONGER than three hours to change a headlight bulb?

Rhetorical questions are these.
talking like Yoda, I am.

Im going to my room now.

well it shouldn't take 3 hours, it's only a matter of taking the bumper cover off, removing the bulbs and replacing them. i can't believe they tried to charge that much for it really. it's an hour job AT THE MOST.

I found that changing them, if I knew before I did it, would have never been a good idea. Don't get me wrong they look great and really increase the visibility, but seriously who designed a car to be such a pain to put in bulbs!

I broke one bulb, broke a couple fenderwell fasteners, just to avoid taking the headlight out. Both were a pain, but the passenger side is ugly to install.

Engineering Disaster or smart Mitsubishi High labor cost service?

Yeah, I had the same headache the first time then my passenger side burnt out but luckily the wifey has the perfect size hands and arms to fit in the fenderwell and do it for me! It would have taken me 3 hours too!
