Question Question for fog upgrade - HID like

I just installed my HID look fog bulb upgrade. It's the same wattage. It looks very good, clean and white looking. Actually, whiter than my HID's .

Anyway, I drove a few minutes last night and on my way to work this morning. So maybe 30 minutes combined. After lunch, I noticed my complete headlight housing looks "tinted" a little.. I did notice the outside surface of the headlight was warm/hot, but I figured the OEM would do the same.

Basically, can a bulb "cook" the housing so it lightly burns the inside of the housing? I'm very **** about details, so I may be losing my mind. I just wondered if anyone with upgraded fog bulbs have noticed this too.

BTW, it was cloudy with showers and my silver EVO was dirty. And yes, I washed the headlights when I got home. No difference, but I could be wrong...

Just PM'd ya.

Moral of any story is when you buy a part make sure its the best so you avoid this unfortunate things. Based on my research the absolute best bulb for the money is from a company called Hoen at www.hoen-usa.com.

Im still happy with my Advanced H11's though, nice and white, lots of miles on them with no problems.

hmmm

well usually aftermarket hid look-alike bulbs have a blueish-purplish sometimes also mirrored tint to it, so my gues is you are seeing the reflection of that tint on the bulb. my S2000 is the same way, i changed the high beams and now i have a purplish looking tint when they are off because its reflecting off the mirrors in the headlight houseing

Some cheaper bulbs are not UV cut glass, this prevents discoloration of the plastic housings. Check with where you bought them if their glass is UV type and if not return them because this will eat the lens.

EVO8 above is also right, the blueish color will reflect from head on especially so maybe its just that?

The UV problem with discoloration is just another example of you get what you pay for. IMHO.

Just to let everyone know, I compared my headlight housing to 2 EVO's at the dealers lot, and mine are O.K.
