I have the Perrin DP which is one of the biggest that has very few bends and tends to hit. Two washers on the stock braces fixed this. Afterwards i got a good deal on a Beatrush bar that is brilliant quality but tends to sit closer because of the one piece design. To fix this i bought a 24"x12" heat wrap as you said earlier, and problem solved. I also used the spare pieces to wrap the oil pan and T-case from the DP which is also a good idea.
