Battery Boxes – Metal or Plastic?

Battery Boxes – Metal or Plastic?

I am planning, my battery relocation to the trunk project.
I did a search on battery relocation and read a few threads on “How To”. I see some people have used the Taylor Metal Battery Box and some others have used the Summit Sealed Plastic Battery Box.

Taylor Metal Battery Box

Summit Plastic Battery Box

So, what Battery Box did you go with?
Metal or Plastic and why one over the other?

Cost?
Safety?
Cosmetics “LOOKS”?

Also,
Did you use a fused distribution block and if so what kind?

On the positive connection in my Evo IX there are three hot leads with fuses. I saw one picture of a member’s car with the fused connector attached to the red wire run to the trunk. But, it was all taped up with electrical tape and it was not CLEAN looking at all.

Thank you in advance for sharing your personal experiences and points of view.

In my past conversions, not Evo, I didn't see the need for a metal box. If there is ever a leak of any sort from a battery, the plastics deal with it better in my opinion. Easily replaceable and cost less.

Good point.

I do plan on going with an Optima Battery.
