Has anyone added the product "Tufoil" to any of these areas? According to their web site, its fine to. I've added to the oil in my cars engines for years with excellent results as its an extremely slippery substance.

Question. I have 3 quarts of Mt-90 and 2 quarts of 75w90. Is the 2 quarts of 75w90 just for the transfer case or is this for the transfer case and rear differential? I'm having my shop do it along with my clutch and I just want to make sure i'm tellin them the right ****

It's for both, each require about .5qt (.58 per the specs in this thread). BTW don't take too much of a whiff of that stuff, you might vomit in the bottle and ruin it.

edit: corrected #'s sorry!

If anyone is still looking for a pump, I found a hand-operated fluid pump at northerntool.com part# 3316152 for $15

I wonder if this is a glitch but the service manual differs from the owners manual as far as fluids go. For the rear differential it recommends GL-5 or higher
* Above -23 C(-10 F): SAE90, 85W-90, 80W-90
* -34 to -23 C(-30 to -10 F): SAE80W, 80W-90
* Below -34 C(-30 F): SAE75

nice detail instructions! Does anyone know if the change is manditory by the recommended 3k or 5k mileage because i've never change the the fluids on my honda and it still works fine.

I would think the change should help ou the transfer case issue that many have been experiencing.

I was doing a bit of research and found out the MT-90 is not recommended for street use in cold climates. This is what they have to say:

MTL (manual transmission lube) - a 70W80 GL-4 gear oil for use in manual transmissions on both street and track. Provides excellent protection of gears, synchronizers, and bushings. Shifts well when cold and allows for fast shifts when warm.

MT-90 - A 75W90 GL-4 gear oil recommended for use in manual transmissions on the track. Provides excellent protection of gears, synchronizers, and bushings at higher temperatures. Not recommended for street use in cold climates.

Also for Gear oil this is what they have to say:

75W90: A GL-5+ and GL-6 spec oil, preferred for use in conventional and LSD differentials. Contains limited-slip friction modifiers for decreased noise and better wear from clutch-type LSD units. Suitable for street and track.

75W90NS: A GL-5 oil, designed for conventional differentials, but can be used in clutch-type LSD units for increased locking rates, leading to reduced wheelspin. Not recommended for street-driven LSD units!

FYI: there is a shop in Sterling VA that carries hundreds of quarts of Redline oil including the MT90 and 75w90

O.G. Racing:
22585D Markey Court Sterling, VA 20166 (800) 934-9112 or 703 430 3303

Just changed out my drivetrain oils with redline. Took it for a quick spin and it feels great. Smoother shifting, less drivetrain noise and flys into second without any grind. I'm adding two pictures to this thread since it wasn't already shown. One is of the rear differential and the other is a picture of the drain bolt to the rear diff. notice how much metalic shavings are stuck to the magnetic drain plug. I'm glad I changed mine fluids today @15k. Will probably do this again at 30k. Overall change of all fluids took about 1 hour. very easy, but a bit messy.

Any chance of getting this updated to fix the missing pix, to round out the How To selection?

Nice write-up
