someone help with clutch install please!

Alright, I have taken everything off, all the bolt's to the transfer case, everything, but it will only move about 1/2 inch, just enough to see the flywheel, could someone who has done a clutch install before please help me and tell me why the transfer case won't come off.

Thanks in advance.

Did you release the throwout bearing ? Also , You may have to do some prying , b/c one of your studs may be stuck . Being able to lift the engine up and down helps .

You need to pull the stub axles (no idea what the real name is, sorry) as well as the external axles. My mechanic had the same problem, treating the Evo like a normal AWD DSM... they are different. Basically the stub axles are held in by a tension ring type arrangement, and a slide hammer type puller will pop them out. You won't get the case off till they are out, though you can move it back and forth almost an inch.

sorry to be bringing up and old post but.. what is the easiest way to reinstall the throw out bearing? Does it need to be stay attached to the press. plate, and then the release lever somehow attached once the trans. is in place, or does it get connected to the release lever then pressed into the press. plate once installed?

Call David. He knows the best. You dont drian the coolant. It is really straight forward except for the shaft pulling and the release bearing. Peter

Yes , you must attach the T.O. bearing to plate , then reattach the lever .

actually you need to attach the TOB to the release lever, then upon the first clutch depression it will re-engage the press. plate.
