Transfer Case
I had someone ask me how much of a biatch would it be to put in a new transfer case. Apparently the fluid leaked out and he was running dry and burned his crap up. Since something was missing and no evidence of damage, warranty would not cover it.
So, Price of a transfer case and how much of a hassle for the install (brief explanation will suffice for install)?

if you have done it before take like a little over an hour to replace. If not i would say 3 hours. not very hard at all. Jus pull radiator and rotate the motor to the rear. makes it 100 times easier.

The steering rack is not in the way. Heres how i do it.
Remove all crap in way (under tray, center tranny and engine mounts, rear shaft..blah blah.
After axles are out and your ready to remove the tc, just unbolt the unit. then just the motor up from the front mount. It will cause the engine to rotate. You will then have plenty of room for the tc to drop out.. Its cake. take 2 people to get it back in sometimes. kinda hard to wiggle it up in there.

i appreciate the help. i think my dad and i are going to give it a try. more than likely that great warranty of ours is not going to cover it. so ridiculous, but i like to work on cars so i dont think i will mind.

On the '05 models with the electronically controlled viscous coupler, is there a special procedure for bleeding/filling the hydraulic system? The pump and control unit, so far as I can tell, is mounted just in front of the LF wheel. I would think there is a process for bleeding air from those long hydraulic hoses.
Any links to how this electronic control system for the center diff works on these '05 models? Very interesting stuff.
