Overheating Issue

i have a fp-red + bolt ons, I recently replaced my thermostat because it was leaking around the seam. she started overheating this morning 240 degrees I wasn't pushing her just driving 60-80mph in 6th, when I checked the coolant I noticed a silver/gold color liquid floating on top of the coolant, it was also underneath the radiator cap and over the new thermostat(this drive was actually her first drive with the new thermostat)

i put everything back including the gasket except thermostat.

Drove her home gently and still overheating (now without thermostat)

can someone tell me what happened and what I should do.

Thanks

What about the silver/gold stuff floating on top that covered everything?

Could be oil - if so, headgasket. Or was it more metallic - metal shaving like? Then I would do an oil analysis. A failing water pump would also cause overheating.

The fiav on the throttle body also uses a wax pellet to determine warmup stage on the evo's same as dsm's. I didnt know the thermostats used wax as well.
