so I ended up mounting the cruise unit to the master cylinder, similar to what the original poster did.. lacking the porper tools though I ended up having to use the supplied aluminum stock to make/bend a bracket, it's not 100% rock solid so I might see if a friend could heat/bend/weld me up the same thing only more solid....

ran the cable along the firewall and then around the intake manifold where I then piggy-backed along with the cars throttle (which I didn't relocate).. a lot of work so far :/ I got the wiring loom into the cabin though, that part took about 2 minutes, thanks for the tip... wiring, etc up next.

oh, and if you have the opportunity to remove the strut tower bar to make space for working, do so.. I didn't want to since my suspension canisters are mounted to it and unmounting them was not something I wanted to do. Sure wish I had smaller hands/arms though. damn.... I'm all cut up now

Does anyone have the wiring schematics for the stalk switch, and how to wire it to the cruise control box?

If so, could you scan them in, or snap a picture?

Thanks.

OK... seems I asked the wrong question, but it did lead me to the info I needed. (on page 23) It looks like I will be able to make this Japanese cruise control switch work without using the Rostra switch at all. HOWEVER there is one problem. The rostra cruise control switch uses an internal impulse sequencing relay which I am bypassing...

For any of you electronic gurus out there...

Do any of you know where I can get an automotive style 12V impulse sequencing relay (I really don't want to have to make a circuit board to make one myself)?

Basically, this turns a momentary switch into a throw switch (push button= turn on, push same button = turn off).

at first, I found a way you can do it with DPDT relays.... unfortunately it takes 4 OF THEM!!!!

So, after some digging around, I found this relay.... BWA HA HA HA!!!! OK, not so impressive as it's all over, turns out it's used in headlights pretty frequently, but not much in the way I will be using it...

It's VW part number 111 941 583 It is used in many german cars to switch from low beams to high beams....

In the way I will be using it, 30 will go to the 12V output from my "on/off" momentary switch, S will go to ground 56 will go to 12V from my switch, and 56b will go to the power of the cruise control....

this upcoming saturday, I plan on starting the modification to the steering column cover to make the Lexus switch look as OEM to the Evo as I can.

As you mentioned, with my install I just bent their bracket. It's been over three years and no trouble with the setup. If you've read this post and thought about how nice cruise would be in your Evo, even with the "dinky" switch, go for it! You wll absolutely not regret it. I like the Lexus switch, looks factory. But I ordered mine with the switch on the left so that only I would be able to see the 90s Camaro switch!

Good luck,
Franc

I finally finished the install and got the car back together in time for an autocross practice yesterday, works well... it does struggle a little bit going up slight inclines when the turbo kicks in. Basically it's over-reacting to the sudden boost of power so it cuts to coast, then back on.. boost, coast, boost, coast, lol

Adjust the slack in the cable, it kinda sounds like there is too much right now. Mine did the same thing, it's picky initially but when you get it right, it's great.

Sorry I know this has been dead for like six months but this seems like a very worth while mod. So im curious it seems llike if you get a switch you like and pull it part and attach the Rostra wires to the switch wires directly it should work (as long as the buttons function the same). Is this correct? Also is there a Mitsubishi switch from any other cars from around that timeframe? This is awesome btw. Also one last question, does anyone know the Rostra part number for the kit?

So I have installed cruise on two of my evos, and both were extremely simple, I will have to take it off and take a video of it going on.. a few have said they had issues with this step, I'll show what I did, and I have not had any issues after close to 40k miles on my two...

How long did it take you to install?

Interested in just doing the install on mine? I have had the kit and custom switch for my car for about 4 yrs

Thanks for the info guys.

I am installing this tomorrow ahead of a 1 week 3,500 mile road trip. I am 6'6" so there is limited leg room that puts my foot at a bad angle so this will be a godsend for a trip like that.

How are you setting up the clutch switch? Does the factory switch work wired into the brake signal or did you use the optional clutch adapter?

Thanks!

Doing the install isn't as intimidating as it may seem. Lots of help on here. But no I don't plan to help install it multiple states away.
