rear strut bar install HELP

has anyone installed one of these? is it as easy as unscrewing and screwing back on, or does something need to be done with the shocks?

you might also want to put some nut-locking grease on the nuts when you got to put them back on...you will notice a tad was already on the nuts when you remove them...also I recommend you give the nuts a very good torque...

All this will help make sure the nuts don't come loose...good luck...and enjoy...

No need to do a hack-job on the carpet. Just be patient.

1) pop the plastic rivets out that hold the carpet
2) bend the carpet down to expose the shock towers
3) bolt in the mounting plates
4) align the carpet up with the arms of the mounting plates and cut a small box out of the carpet
5) slide the arms through the box and bolt the bar on

If it's a 1-piece bar, you'll be stuck cutting the carpet more (like an inverted "T").

Here's a pic:

Do you notice any improvements from a handling or structural solidity standpoint? I thought the EVO already had an X brace behind the seat, that's why it doesn't fold down. This looks like an easy mod if it actually makes a difference.

Dale - it helps the back end come around a little easier. There is a lot of debate about Evo understeer, but personally I saw a huge improvement in making the car more neutral.

Yeah, are there any cheap sources for rear bars? Christmas is here and I'd like to put one on my list.

After spending only $30 for the very nice one in my 300ZX, I can't bring myself to spend $150-$250 on one of these things.

No I did it myself but thats the same way I did though cool I am glad someone else thinks to make it look good. I have seen so many where people have just hacked the carpet ot took it out all together.
