exedy twin disc question
I am trying to install my exedy twin disc and I noticed that the discs pucks can be lined up different ways, either aligned with each other or staggered etc, how are they supposed to be installed?
Thanks

What do you mean? You should be using the alignment tool for the discs themselves, for the plates they should go in order and aligned with the paint marks from the factory. The transmission will not go in unless the discs are aligned perfectly.
Theres a hole on the top of the plates.........

as long as you are using an alignment tool that keeps the splines of the discs lined up for the input shaft there is no need to worry about the alignment of the friction material of the discs themselves

Actually, Exedy specifically puts inspection holes in the friction discs and states "the discs should be rotated slightly so that the friction areas do NOT line up exactly"

I got ahold of exedy they said their triple disc clutch needs the alignment holes lined up but the twin disc does not have alignment holes and to just line the pucks up to eachother. I did what they said and have had no issues.
You physically cant line the pucks up together because the splines are off. Staggered is the way to go and is the way I set mine up. Honestly I really dont think it matters with the twin disk though.
I bought my evo used from a dealer and my buddy pulled a plug from the front of the tranny and said it has a exedy clutch. What would I look at to verify what type of clutch it has twin, triple without taking the clutch out?
