How to remove the plastic around the steering column?

Last week I decided to change the bulbs in my gauge cluster. Being an idiot, I dropped one of the screws while putting the cluster back in and it is now sitting somewhere inside the plastic trim around the steering column. I'm sure you guys know what I'm talking about but for those who don't, I mean the two pieces (top and bottom) immediately behind the steering wheel that have holes for the turn signal/wiper stalks and ignition.

This wouldn't be a big deal except for the fact that the screw rattles like CRAZY while driving. I have never experienced anything like it. I'm going to go nuts if I don't find it soon.

The bottom piece of trim has 3 screws in it (2 where the lever for raising/lowering the steering wheel sits and one in a deep hole closer to the dashboard). I removed all 3 but all this seems to do is make the trim move around a bit around the steering column, upper and lower pieces moving together.

Any ideas? I'm hoping I don't have to take off the steering wheel to find this screw.
