Whats the Best way for HP break in?
I know theres many forums on this already but most of them dont help. SO im starting a new one, recently someone clamed they got 250WHP from the method "Drive it like its stolen" like it says on http://mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm Then others say they went by what the book says, also by changing the oil to non-synthetic. So i want people to post the way they did it and how much WHP you got stock. Example "243WHP, drove it like it was stolen."
Also if u did it your own way please explain.

If you don't care about how long your car lasts and have ****load of money so you care even less, drive it like you stole it.
Otherwise I would recommend going to google and spend a few hours trying to find out what can go wrong (wear incorrectly) by following that method.
I'll give you a hint - gearbox, tranny, clutch, brakes, diffs.

My a liitle of what he is saying is ture.
After test driving Evo's almost on a daily basis I noticed many of the demo's actually felt like they had a little more kick to them then mine. Of course I babied mine for the first 1000 miles, but I can feel a diffenrence in power between mine and the demo which everyone just drives insane. But I also take in consideration the the demo just had its entire cultch assembly replaced and it only had 480 miles on it.

david,
what mototune usa says is quite true. however, on our engines we do need to stick with synthetic...not for its wear properties but for its thermal properties. because we have a high heat generator(turbo), non-synthetic oil will break down much sooner...then lack in its ability to lubricate the engine properly.
his method on breaking in an engine does seem a bit harsh, but its also what many performance engine builders recommend. of course...you don't push the enging out 100% on a first start, but you continually load the engine so that there is pressure on the rings. that pressure allows for the rings to wear in quicker, reducing the chances of blowby, etc. if you look on mkiv.com, there is another engine builder(forgot his name) who has his own break-in procedure similar to his. many master mechanics i've worked with before have similar procedures. slowly push the engine, with varying loads, progressively increasing, over the first 50-100mi of engine runtime. after that initial break in procedure, immediately change the oil, then after that follow the general oil chance interval(3000mi).
