98 Evo V Clutch Safety Switch Install
98 Evo V Clutch Safety Switch Install
Hey guys. My car didn’t have a clutch safety switch when I bought it. Now I can’t pass VA state inspection without it. I can’t find a single resource on how to install one. Anyone have any advice? Thanks in advance.
Well, step 1 would be to see if here is already a switch and/or wiring by the pedal already.
A lot of people have simply unplugged them to save wear on the thrust bearings in the motor from pushing the clutch without oil pressure.
If there is a switch and wiring, you should be good to go. Wiring, no switch should be ok as well. Find the original mount or make you own and add something like the evo 8/9 switch.
No wiring; switch or no, is kind of a mess. At that point I personally would probably wiring it into the ignition power if its absolutely needed. By far the hardest of the possible options.
Get under that dash and start poking around, only way to figure out whats going on.
